NAUTICA IN NEW YORK

NAUTICA IN NEW YORK By: Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger

Traditional classic was at its best on Friday, September 9th, during Fashion Week in New York. With the sun shining brightly in the sky and the backdrop of the New York City skyline in the distance, the Nautica Men’s Spring 2012 Collection was unveiled on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel across the street from the Lincoln Center.

The inspiration for this vintage Cali-prep look of Monterey is a California road trip up the Pacific coastline.

There were three sets of dreamy models posing for the cameras. The ‘Sailing Club’ was big on the cotton poplin cargo short and slim jean. Paired with the sleeveless vest or blazer or white tie, the short could take you from the boat to the bar. The ageless striped polo is the must-have item for your Spring 2012 wardrobe. A beach favorite will certainly be the light yellow and sea blue swim trunks with a sailing schooner as is the characteristic pattern of Nautica.

The Monterey Set gave us timeless looks for sea or for land. Some of the highlights included the grey cotton silk shawl collar sweater with leather elbow patches, indigo cotton chambray work shirt and blue cotton nylon watercolor shell print swim trunk. A rainy day is perked up with a coral cotton trench coat, v-neck sweater, crew neck t-shirt and khaki cotton trouser. The stone suede bomber jacket made an appearance as well.

Lastly, the Malibu Set was all about the memorable trench coat, cotton hoodie and the conventional cotton searsucker suit. Each piece was a masterpiece of chic and timeless and comfortable all rolled into one.

The appropriate canvas boat shoe was worn with each outfit.

From bathing suit to blazer, Nautica is the perfection collection for every male desiring to make a fashion statement these days.
