The stars were out in full force on Sunday, January 15th, for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards that took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The consensus from the crowd was that they enjoyed attending as a means of socializing with their fellow celebrity friends and most were anticipating what the evening would hold with bold and brash Ricky Gervais as host. He wore a burgundy tux which set him apart from the other stars.

It was definitely a night to raise your champagne glass to all the gorgeous fashions. The Red Carpet seemed to usher in one beauty after another.

My vote goes to Angelina Jolie who captured the crowds with her silky one-shouldered Versace white form-fitting gown with slit giving her a royal appearance and trimmed in a fiery red drape collar and then finished with a dramatic red lip.

The runner-up had to be Charlize Theron in a pale pink Dior Couture gown with a combination short and long length gown with a side swept bow pulled up with a diamond brooch and she had a doll-like beauty with her hair bound in a Cartier headband.

Julianne Moore played presenter this year and kept that youthful glow in a strapless black Chanel Couture gown flattering her long strawberry curls set with green Fred Leighton earrings.

Sultry Kate Winslet chose to capitalize on the black and white theme with an elegant Jenny Packham gown with stunning gold and diamonds belt closure.

Tina Fey was fun with feathers in a red gathered strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with blue sapphire jewels by Kwiat. Tina was joined by many of her long-time Saturday Night cast members like Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler.

Big-eyed dark-haired beauty, Zooey Deschanel, wore a green and black Prada gown with sequins on the bodice descending into a flowing train. She finished the look with Van Cleef and Arpels pearls and diamonds.

Gunmetal gowns exuded confidence and charisma for Lea Michelle in a Marchesa grey gown with embellishment. Madonna looked ever so smart in a tight-fitting low-cut Reem Acra gown with black textured folds at the hem and adorned in a diamond cross necklace by Neil Lane.

As usual, sizzling Jessica Alba hit the Red Carpet in a purple glittering strapless gown by Gucci with Bulgari jewels upon her wrist and dangling from her ears.

Subtle but simply stunning was Emma Stone in Lanvin with a low cut burnt-colored gown with eagle detail belt.

Designer Jason Wu who seems to be in the spotlight ever so much lately, dressed Best Actress Nominee and Winner, Michelle Williams, in a blue and black textured gown and she looked adorable in her Fred Leighton headband carrying a Judith Leiber clutch.

Leonardo DiCaprio was statuesque and aristocratic in a traditional black tux and certainly got my vote.

As unique as Sir Elton John always attains to be, this night was no exception. His shirt sparkled under his tuxedo jacket with a touch of silver sequins. He seemed to be at odds with Madonna, perhaps because they were competing for the same win in the category of Original Song in a movie. But, of course, there can only be one winner.

Adam Levine and Carson Daly had a bonding moment on the Red Carpet. Matt Le Blanc was a sure winner and looking a bit older and wiser than in his ‘Friends’ days.

The stars just kept coming from smiling Reese Witherspoon in a red Zac Posen gown to Mary J. Blige in Michael Kors blush sequins and feathers.

She wasn’t the only one in feathers. Evan Rachel Wood also made a strong statement in green sequins and her share of feathers.

Bubbly Sofia Vergara stole the night with her personality which was just as beautiful as her Vera Wang strapless gown with mermaid-like skirt.

But one of the most down-to-earth women had to be Octavia Spencer, Best Supporting Actress Nominee and Winner for ‘The Help’. She was wearing a lavender Tadashi Shoji gown with a Judith Leiber clutch and Irene Neuwirth jewels.

There was many a surprised winner giving a touching acceptance speech with Morgan Freeman being awarded one of the great honors of the evening. Jimmy Fallon was the comedian of the evening with his spoof on Adam Levine’s hit song, ‘Moves’. Ricky Gervais once again pulled it off for yet another year.
