The beat went on and on as the MTV Video Music Awards were celebrated and televised on Fashion’s Night Out this year on September 6, 2012.  All the music superstars came out in numbers to the Staples Center in Los Angeles to applaud the exceptional talent that has captured the fans and audiences around the world in record numbers over the past year.

Host for the melodious evening was actor and stand-up comedian, Kevin Hart, full of energy and enthusiasm.

Fashions were a mixture of styles from Rihanna’s one-shouldered white grecian-like gown leaving much to the imagination to Taylor Swift’s sexy white tuxedo suit with glistening gold shoes.  Katy Perry rocked the house in a plunging black gown with sequined blue and red flower pattern and very long train.

Miley Cyrus chose black as the color of her gown with an element of sheer seductiveness as she moved.  Nicki Minaj was the center of attention as she usually is in a skin-tight black lace bodysuit trimmed in red with a sequined motorcycle cap and platforms to complete the look. The sensational boy band, One Direction, looked preppy and pretty hot all in the same sentence.

Pink went metallic in a long-sleeved gown looking futuristically beautiful and Alicia Keys was sporting a new much shorter ‘do’ as she modeled a stylishly sophisticated golden one-shouldered gown.  Frank Ocean came very casual blending polka dots with plaids in a shirt and shorts.  Gotye was all dressed in black looking famous and fine.

Little Olympic wonder, Gabby Douglas, hypnotized on the Red Carpet in a black and gold striped knee-length dress.  She was also an award presenter.

Stars such as Rashida Jones, Emma Watson, Rita Ora, the cast of “Jersey Shore”, Tyler Posey, Jessica Szohr, RuPaul out of drag, Maria Menounos and many more made their way into the Center waiting for the action to begin and some to even be called on stage to present awards.

The evening certainly had some memorable moments as the variety of performers graced the stage with their own musical style.  Rihanna kicked it off performing her new song and entertaining the crowd with a dance routine that only Rihanna can give.

British rising band, One Direction, seemed to steal the spotlight more times than once during the ceremony not only for their sharp good looks but their talented sound as well and teenage girls screamed while holding their hands up, seemingly reminiscent of The Beatles’.  Pink floated high above the crowds as she sang her number with a powerful punch.
