A Golden Globe Win for Monique Lhuillier

It was a golden evening, perfect in every way. Stepping out on the red carpet meant losing all inhibitions, posing graciously for the cameras and smiling at lights flashing from every possible angle.

The real winner of the evening on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards was Monique Lhuillier, a designer renowned for her unmistakable bridal collections. A brown-eyed beauty filled with vast creativity and a whimsical allure, this Filipino-American designer has become a celebrity favorite. From the days of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, Lhuillier’s fashion presentations have enticed audiences into a world of unparalleled glamour. She continues to branch out with overwhelming acceptance from her followers.

When actresses are nominated and invited to attend the Golden Globes, they leave it up to the designer of choice to clothe them in stand-out style. The looks for 2019 were certainly some of Tinseltown’s best. More than a handful of women were knockouts on the Red Carpet, thanks to Monique Lhuillier.

Both Amber Heard and Kaley Cuoco, stunning and quite individual actresses, chose to go with strapless velvet bodices complimented by white princess ball gown skirts (Kaley’s having pockets which she gushed about to all those who interviewed her). Amber was in black velvet, Kaley in dark blue velvet. Kaley’s gown had a large velvet black bow around the waist. While both actresses accessorized with bedazzling jewelry, Amber opted for big curls and voluminous hair and Kaley went for simple flowing locks. Both women exuded an air of self-confidence in their gowns that only Monique Lhuillier could fulfill for them that evening.

Stunning beauty Jameala Jamil, cast member of ‘The Good Place’ which was nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, could be compared to a magical and sophisticated princess in pink. The Lhuillier gown was strapless with flower appliques on the bodice and upper part of the gown. The sharp contrast of the pink gown to her olive-toned complexion and dark long hair made her choice a true winner. She accentuated her lips in a shade that was a similar pink to the gown.

Nominee Keri Russell, star of ‘The Americans’, went for sensually dramatic in a silver sequin gown, plunging from her shoulders clear to her waistline. Other than metallic earrings and silver colored nail polish, Keri let her Lhuillier gown speak in volumes, showing off her elegant beauty.

Resembling a real-life ballerina, Emmy Rossum wore a strapless pink gown. Her eye makeup kept the accent on pink. The upper portion of the gown was a ruched bodice and lower skirt was made of tulle. The entire look was quite captivating.

Sacha Baron Cohen must have been beaming with pride gazing at his lovely wife who attended the event, supporting his nomination. Dripping in diamonds and smiling with luscious red lips, Isla Fisher picked Monique Lhuillier to capture her style. Layers of black lace intertwined with panels of sheer mesh were head-turning and reminiscent of the Old-Style Hollywood glamour of eras gone by. Red lips and swept to the side hair were fitting accessories for this look.

It was breathtaking, a gown of sequins that resembled shooting stars. Actress Linda Cardellini of ‘A Simple Favor’, chose a Monique Lhuillier gown that flattered in sky black. The gown had a knotted tulle shoulder accent and a flowing train. The actress wore her hair up, very avant-garde for the look.

Smiling as always for the spotlight, Heidi Klum was fun and fanciful in her gown, enjoying the moment. It came alive with large colorful floral insignias. There was no better way to make her engagement official than by showing off her gleaming ring in a gown that she felt good in. It was framed in a strapless corset-style boned bodice, very revealing. The skirt blossomed out with fullness and certainly captured the happiness of the moment.

These were the ladies that shone on the Red Carpet, thanks to Monique Lhuillier.

The evening was that ‘once a year’ spectacular that makes memories for the Golden Globes. While plenty of trophies were being handed out to winners and “thank-you” speeches wrapped it all up, philanthropy was also a big part of the evening. Moet & Chandon brought their ‘Toast for a Cause’ annual tradition back to the Red Carpet. This initiative gives nominees that opportunity to raise a glass and toast with Moet & Chandon Imperial mini champagne flutes in support of their favorite charities. More than 200 nominees have participated since its inception of the idea and over $250,000 has been raised for over 150 charities.

A hearty salute to all the winners of the 2019 Golden Globe awards and a special salute to the designer of the evening who made many women look their most fashionable best, Monique Lhuillier.
