It has been confirmed that movie legend and icon, Elizabeth Taylor, has died at the age of 79. She had been recently hospitalized for congestive heart failure and has been in and out of the hospital during the course of the last year.

Elizabeth Taylor died peacefully at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles in the presence of her family.

Elizabeth Taylor’s career spanned the years beginning with her heartwarming role at the young age of 12 in “National Velvet”. She won 2 Oscars for her role in ‘Butterfield 8’ (1960) and ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ (1966). She appeared in more than 50 films of which ‘Cleopatra’ was one of her most favorite and where she met one of her husbands, Richard Burton.

Her personal life consisted of 8 marriages including her two time marriage to her cherished co-star in various films, Richard Burton.

She even branched out into the cosmetics industry with her enticing fragrances, “White Diamonds” and “Passion”.

Taylor was a huge advocate and supporter of the fight against AIDS. She founded the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation after the death of her good friend, Rock Hudson. It has been said that her charity grossed as much as her film career grossed.

Elizabeth Taylor was a glamorous and classy lady and touched the lives of many. She will certainly be missed by all her longtime fans.
