By:  Hope Wilkos, Writer

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has whisked us to all parts of internationally renowned regions of the globe, from the most divine to the majestically  intriguing.  One of the best of the season was saved for the last stop.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo  travels to a city ripe with culture that sparks inventive genius in designers emerging from this historic region.  Spreading an influential wave of originality, this particular fashion Spring/Summer 2015 week, is held twice a year in March and October and hosted by Japan Fashion Week Organization.  This organization works very closely with designers, manufacturers and apparel retailers to implement various industry related events and aims to strengthen ties with fashion related organizations both in Japan and overseas.  This is the time for Tokyo to shine with drama, glamour and glitz.

From October 13, 2014 through October 18, 2014, days were filled with the latest creations from accomplished designers equating to 48 different brands.   So many trends that were seen and will catch on immediately were very pleasing to the eye and to the individualistic style that we like to call our own.

A breath of fresh air blew down the runway in lightweight fabrics with captivating geometric patterns as the Hanae Mori Collection debuted, designed by Yu Amatsu.

An almost 3-D work of art to adorn the body and illuminate the figure, was seen in the neutral color of black with heavy accents on accessories as visitors came to admire all the pieces in the Tokyo-Somarta Installation by Japanese designer, Tamae Hirokawa.  Behold black paired with white in a shapely and more formal dress with plunging suggestive neckline, also by Hirokawa.

DressCamp was fun, flirtatious and feminine as ruffled dresses were seen left and right. No matter what the outfit worn was, the pink lip is a very important look for this Spring/Summer 2015 season.  The man seemed to have a sharply bright interpretation of his look which matched the woman’s look, almost with an androgynous feel to it.

Free-flowing skirts with wide sashes set the fashion collection of ‘haha’ on the most imaginative list. The design team of Takafumi Tsuruta worked together in union to make the most memorable of fashion presentations.  Models were not just the tall and sensuous men and women that are the highlight of each of the seasons, but models that were beautiful in their own unique way smiled as they traveled down the runway.

Flowers were not just meant to be seen on that sunny spring day after a good long rain shower, but also worn as part of a dress blossoming in a manner meant to turn heads and feel as if the warmth was now upon us again.  That was the trend that dominated the collection of Johan Ku Gold Label.
