At the DEMA Show 2011 dive show this past week, one of the top four dive destinations in the world had a large presence. Bonaire, a diver’s den of beauty and bountiful marine life, should definitely be on the top of your dive destinations. Diving is offered as a multitude of packages. Most resorts can boast great diving a few yards off of shore to view some of the most pristine reefs ever seen. Resorts range from small seaside villas to comfortable condominiums to romantic bungalows.

Bonaire is eager to share one of the first marine parks in the Caribbean for the past 30 years. Divers will enjoy 78-84 degree waters with visibility ranging over 100 feet. Prior to the 1st dive, once you arrive, you will be required to attend a Bonaire National Marine Park Orientation Briefing. This will minimize and reduce damage to the reef.

There are over 63 different dive sites, some of which also accommodate snorkelers. All gear can be rented upon arrival on the island and in most instances, dive as frequently as you like. Your eyes will be transfixed on corals, fish, crustaceans, nudibranchs and aquatic mammals.

A day on the land will offer you scenery such as cactus, divi trees, flora, fossilized coral, natural caves and volcanic rock. A trip to the Washington /Slagbaai National Park is a must while you are there on vacation.

There also happen to be so many great outdoor activities to take part in while you relax in this golden paradise. Mountain biking, land sailing, kite boarding, windsurfing, kayaking and bird watching will all keep you entertained.

Slide presentations fill the evening activities as a means of sharing the beauty of the land and the sea. Live music will keep the night owls dancing with the sounds of talented local bands. A casino at the Divi Flamingo Beach offers gambling until the wee hours of the morning.

The annual calendar includes cycle tours, a flavorful festival, windsurf race and farmers market. Choose to visit during one of these events and you are in for a special treat.

Bonaire is proud to say that with over 75 restaurants on the island, they have taken high honors at international culinary competitions repeatedly over the years. Whatever your taste palate craves, it is sure to be satisfied during your stay.

Fine shopping is all part of what Bonaire is known for. Rolex watches, gold jewelry, Dutch cheese, Cuban cigars and fine china are just some of the goods that can be purchased during your visit. Add a bit of local flair with native artists and craftsmen who produce unique and original gifts.

Tourism is one of the top industries in Bonaire and residents are thrilled to be able to welcome guests to their land and learn about their culture. To plan your 2012 trip, go to : Bonaire Tourism Board
