It seems as if 2011 has passed us by at a very quick pace. We look forward to a new year ahead. What does the entertainment industry have in store for us in 2012? Who will become the hottest celebrities of the year?
As we pose the question for the new year, we look back in retrospect at the old year. Celebrities like to make their mark in the world and there were a handful that seemed to stay out in front throughout the year.
The Kardashian Family became a household name. They attracted an overwhelming audience in 2011 with their dramatic reality show. Everyone seemed to want to keep up with Kim, Khloe and Kourtney and now even Kylie and Kendall Jenner are becoming fashionable favorites. The Kardashian girls set the trend in fashion, have been savvy in business ventures and seem to know how to attract attention in almost everything that they do. Audiences have been following their romantic lives with the ups and downs of courtship, marriage and separation. What will be their good fortune in 2012?
April 2011 will go down in history as the largest royal wedding since Charles and Diana. Debonair Prince William wed his lovely bride, Kate Middleton, whom he had courted for many years. It was a wedding like none other with millions of spectators across the globe to witness the pageantry of such a spectacular event. While all eyes focused on the stately bride and groom, Pippa Middleton who is the sister of the bride, was introduced to the world and the public soon began to develop interest in this young beauty as well. Kate and Pippa have made the front covers of many a fashion magazine and continue to set the stylish trends each season. What will 2012 hold for the royal couple and their family?
While one union became history, another union was dissolved. The loving couple of Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez sadly ended and Lopez didn’t waste any time finding a new and younger partner. She kept busy as an ‘American Idol’ judge, continued to amaze audiences with her unparalleled dance moves and she evened out the year with her new clothing and home goods line for Kohl’s. What is in the cards for Miss Lopez in 2012?
Lady Gaga quickly moved up to be one of the hottest entertainers of the year in 2011. Her over the top costumes caught the attention of young and old alike and her performances seemed to always captivate crowds. To end the year, Gaga created her ‘Lady Gaga’s Workshop’ at Barney’s in New York City, a most ingenious way to pull us into her world with clothing, goodies and all kinds of neat items, taking up the 5th floor of the department store. Through this project, Lady Gaga decided to donate 25% of the sales to her new ‘Born This Way Foundation’ to embrace humanity, empower individuals and eliminate intolerance. Will she continue to rule the music world in 2012?
To round out the list of 2011 celebrities, young heartthrob, Justin Bieber, had young girls swooning every time he hit the stage. He attended and performed at almost every award event from L.A. to New York City and around the world and his romantic encounter with the charming Selena Gomez seemed to intrigue his fans. He grew up right before our eyes and ended the year in Times Square performing a powerful rendition of The Beatles hit, ‘Let It Be’. Will his successful stardom continue in 2012?
Who will become our favorites this year? Will we continue to search out the old or become enthralled with the new? Stay tuned, the year is only just beginning………
