CFDA ANNOUNCES ITS 2013 NOMINEES

In the midst of all the flurry of fashion events taking place these days, the Council of Fashion Designers of America announced their nominees for the 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards that will take place on June 3rd at Lincoln Center’s Alicy Tully Hall and will be digitally broadcast on Tuesday, June 4th, exclusively on Style.com.
This is the ultimate honor to have bestowed upon you in the fashion industry. Not only are womenswear and menswear designers recognized from the emerging to the long-standing, but also awards go out to those who design accessories, costume designers and a media award given in honor of one of the most influential journalists of fashion, Eugenia Sheppard. The coveted Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award will go to the very talented Vera Wang this year.
This week the nominees were announced at an exclusive event hosted by CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and Nadja Swarovski at the CFDA offices in lower Manhattan. Swarovski will present three awards to designers with outstanding qualities and amazing potential. This marks the 12th time that Swarovski has participated in the awards. “We are proud to celebrate our partnership with the CFDA Fashion Awards for the twelfth consecutive year,” said Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, Swarovski Crystal Business. “Each of this year’s nominees is an inspiring industry leader who has played a powerful role in making American fashion what it is today. Meanwhile, spearheading a new generation of American talent are the nominees for the Swarovski Awards. We hope their vision and exceptional creativity will make them leaders of the industry in years to come.”
Nominees were proudly announced by CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.
“The CFDA Fashion Awards celebrate American design talent and the influence our industry has across the globe,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA’s CEO. “This year’s nominees and honorees represent the best and most creative talent of the past year as determined by a Guild of their peers. We look forward to announcing our winners on June 3 and thank Swarovski for its long time commitment to and support of the event.”
Many of the names will come as no surprise as they continue to be bright and shining stars in a world of style and luxury. Here are the nominees:

This is quite an elite and well-deserving list of nominees who have dedicated themselves to everything that fashion stands for.
The nominees are decided by a 400+ selection committee made up of members of the council, journalists, top fashion retailers and stylists. Once the nominees were chosen, it was confirmed at a meeting of the CFDA Board of Directors. The final votes are tabulated by Ernst & Young LLP which is the official accounting firm of the 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards. The Awards will be produced by KCD and collateral will be art directed by Laird & Partners.
We will eagerly await the magical event not only for the ceremony itself but for the Red Carpet fashions worn by the chic attendees.
