Chateau Marmont Welcomes Fashion Fund Finalists

The west coast of the United States was radiating recently when an entourage of beautiful people were temporarily transported from New York City to Los Angeles to join in the celebration of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists. This is the next generation of designers, eager to stir up the fashion world with lots of creativity and plenty of collaboration.
On October 26, 2016, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show drew a diverse crowd, from editors, stylists and models to celebrities with the power to influence the fashion industry. The setting could not have been finer. The chic Chateau Marmont provided the atmosphere to enjoy this stylish show with pieces displayed from each of the 2016 Fashion Fund finalists.

This has become a highly anticipated annual event that normally is held in New York City. Los Angeles welcomed the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show this year. Hosting the festivities at the Chateau Marmont were Deborah Lloyd of the well-known brand of Kate Spade who was joined by Mark Holgate and Lisa Love from Vogue, along with actress Emma Stone. It was difficult to determine which was more enhancing, the greenery surrounding the show or the glamorous guests seated to enjoy the show. Those in attendance were Katy Perry, January Jones, Amber Valletta, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jourdan Dunn, Ciara, Michelle Monaghan, Elaine Irwin, Maria Sharapova, Karlie Kloss, Nicole Richie, Kristen Stewart, Eva Chow, Asia Chow, China Chow, Jennifer Meyer Camilla Belle, Grace Gummer, Poppy Jamie, Nikki Reed, Langley Fox and Sally Singer.

The event would not have been complete without the presence of the judges, those whose tough job is to determine the winner who will be awarded a monetary prize and invaluable business mentoring. Since its inception, this valuable program has granted $5.2 million to over 30 design companies, including Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, The Elder Statesman, and Public School Derek Lam, Thom Browne, Rodarte, Tabitha Simmons and Eva Fehren. With growing industry support, the prize was raised to $400,000 for the winner and $150,000 to the two runners-up in 2015. Judges for 2016 are Steven Kolb, Jenna Lyons, Ken Downing, Reed Krakoff, and David Neville. It was a dazzling display of fashions paraded on the expansive patio by talented designers Beckette Fogg and Piotrek Panszcyk, Brock Collection’s Laura Vassar Brock and Kristopher Brock, Chloe Gosselin, Krewe Du Optic’s Stirling Barrett, Morgan Lane’s Morgan Curtis, Newbark’s Marjan and Maryam Malakpour, Ji Oh, Rochambeau’s Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler, Adam Selman, and Stampd’s Chris Stamp.

Adding to the excitement of the afternoon were graffiti artists, prairie fairies with baby lambs, hiplet dancers uniquely blending classic pointe technique with hip-hop and some urban dance moves. The surprises just kept coming with hula-hoop chances with experts showing how it is done, futuristic robots, a jazz band and even a burlesque and cabaret performance.

This marks the final step before the November 7th finale where the winner will be announced. After the gaiety and fashionable entertainment ended outdoors at the Chateau Mormont, guests were escorted into the tea room to enjoy some delicious cake served on Kate Spade’s New York home and tabletop designs.
CFDA and Vogue will present the 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner on November 7, 2016 back in New York City.
