Delray Fashion Week may not be quite as large as New York Fashion Week, but it is just as impressive in the mighty world of fashion. Delray Beach is one of the most beautiful coastal cities on the east coast of Florida, nestled between Boca Raton on the south and Palm Beach on the north. Some of the main hub of activity takes place along famous Atlantic Avenue, with a mixture of boutiques filled with unique fashions, succulent eateries, art galleries loaded with originality, yoga and pilates studios and many salons and specialty stores. On a bright Saturday afternoon, there is no better place to be than enjoying a Starbucks chai tea at a table outside along the avenue ,watching all the interesting people walking and driving along.
Words alone cannot describe all the unforgettable activity that is in store for you. Delray Fashion Week was born, not only out of a desire to showcase enticing clothing and accessory collections, but to bring more recognition to the local business community that make Delray Beach one of the most fashionable areas in South Florida. This fashion extravaganza was launched by the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority and has been successful in bringing greater awareness from visitors from all over the world to Delray local boutiques, restaurants and salons. Featured in the many days of events will be items designed locally, nationally and even internationally by some very gifted talent.
Behind all the glamour and glitz, there is a devoted woman that holds the key to planning and getting the entire week rolling. Jules Guaglardi, owner of Roxy Lulu, is instrumental in making sure Delray Fashion Week leaves visitors and onlookers mesmerized by the beauty and the thrill of the entire event. She will be hosting one of the very first shows of Day One of Delray Fashion Week. Although the activities are free to the public, there are a couple shows, one on January 20th and the other on January 24th, offering seating for a price, which in turn, goes towards funding for local charities. One of this year’s Fashion Week charities is the Achievement Centers for Children and Families . Pricing will be $15 per seat. They will also be the charity of choice for the 3rd Annual Stiletto Race on January 23rd. The Delray Center for the Arts will host the Recycled Runway Event on Sunday, January18th and the proceeds will benefit their organization at $25 per person.
Not only will visitors be welcomed warmly to all the fashion shows with a different theme for each day, but even more will grasp ahold of you. Beauty experiences and makeovers, art expositions, trunk shows and it all culminates with the grand finale on Saturday evening, January 24th.
The Fabulous Fashion Show Finale, “Gypsies to Jetsetters,” will take place in front of the historic Colony Hotel on Atlantic Ave. Keep your eyes fixated on original designs from local designers and evening wear from over 40 Downtown Fashion Boutiques.
There has been so much to see on this very first day including a sophisticated Sasha Lickle Trunk Show with some of the most gorgeous jewelry to accessorize your finest pieces. It all took place at C. Orrico Lily Pulitzer Signature Store , a definite hot spot during this Fashion Week as the store has various events going on throughout the entire week. As the sun set in the cloudless sky, the action kicks into high gear with the presentation of the “Delray Swim” show, an outdoor enticing event, showcasing the sizzling swimwear of over 25 local merchants including Roxy Lulu. Not only will the women find some appropriate fashions for a day relaxing by the beach, but, men will have the opportunity to see what is new in the world of swim for them as well.
An abundance of thanks goes to all the Delray fashion boutiques, salons and spas, accessory retailers, specialty shops and art galleries that made this all possible. This is the best time of year to enjoy the South Florida lifestyle and Delray Fashion Week is sure to keep you moving, captivating your interest for eight full days of fashion and fun.
