FASHION’S FIGHT AGAINST MS
By: Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger Photographer: George Whylie Videographer: Maxine NolanIt was a perfect afternoon to bring fashion lovers together for a cause worth fighting for. On Thursday, December 13, 2012, Fashion’s Fight Against MS brought Fort Lauderdale, Florida, alive with a passion as supporters attended a charity fashion show and luncheon. The exclusive Ritz-Carlton with a magnificent view of the inviting Atlantic Ocean played host to this exciting event which drew a huge crowd of 250 attendees, the winning formula for success.
A silent auction filled with resplendent packages was held prior to the luncheon/fashion show to raise funds to inch closer to the goal. Travel packages, sports memorabilia, original artwork, exquisite jewelry, teeth whitening sessions, the latest technology in vacuum cleaners by Soniclean, a one-of-a-kind Justin Bieber photograph and more were just some of the desirable items up for bid.
As guests waited for the doors to open, they browsed the tables of splendid merchandise filled with items such as Christofle flatware, only the very best for any holiday table. Lavish hats filled with feathers and frills were available for show and tell. If you were looking for the perfect gift to say how much you care, Fiora Jewelry was the overwhelming and grandiose choice. Rich Italian beads and unique bracelets give this brand its international acclaim. ‘A Sparkle of Life’ received oohs and aahs as their beaded necklaces had a vintage flair and an unmatched quality.
Just as beautiful as the models themselves was the ballroom where the event took place. A colossal chandelier throwing off sparkling rays of light accentuated the gorgeous rose centerpieces that adorned every table.
We can’t forget the real purpose of the afternoon. The Multiple Sclerosis Foundationis an organization committed to ensuring the best quality of daily life for those coping with MS through implementation of an extensive array of patient services. This event was the perfect opportunity to spread the word and empower women facing the struggles of this degenerative disease. South Florida is the headquarters for this non-profit organization and attending the gala were Co-Executive Director, Jules Kuperberg and Development Director, Nathalie Sloane along with Committee Chair, Manya Lowry. They were thrilled to say a few words and present the runway show and Fashion’s Fight Founder, Shannon Rusbuldt and Co-Founder, Nicole Zuralow. Shannon has made quite a name for herself in the fashion industry. She has modeled for top-name designers such as Giorgio Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch and Sophie Theallet. She has appeared in ‘Sex & The City 2, The Movie’ and is no stranger to humanitarian causes.
As the guests started leaving, we couldn’t help but think how rewarding and special the day had been and with supporting events such as this one, more awareness and additional funds can be raised to get even closer to the ultimate goal of finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis so that those affected can lead more fulfilling lives.
