FIGHTING WORLD HUNGER WITH MICHAEL AND HALLE

 is on a mission.  This designer of international acclaim has pledged to raise millions of dollars for the United Nations World Food Programme.   WFP is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger on a global level.

WWD quoted Kors as saying, ”We wanted to contribute in a way that would make a real difference in people’s lives. Joining forces with the World Food Programme enables us to do that. The fact is, hunger is a solvable problem and I’m proud that we can be a part of the solution.”

”Over the years, I’ve had the great fortune of travelling the world and experiencing new cultures and people. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that millions of people all over the world are struggling to feed themselves, and their families, every day. I want to lend my voice and my efforts to this international cause.”

Now Kors is very excited to announce that Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry is joining forces with the dedicated designer to help combat global hunger.  Building awareness on a worldwide scale is just as important as raising the funds and with these two superstars, this winning duo will spread the word and far exceed the goal.

The first project for this pair will be the launch of two specially designed styles of ‘ best-selling Runway watch as part of the brand’s WATCH HUNGER STOP campaign.

Every time a watch is sold, 100 meals will be provided to hungry children through WFP.  These watches will be available exclusively in stores worldwide and on in the United States.

Following this launch, Kors and Berry are planning a site visit with WFP within the next year so that they can experience it first-hand and see the wonderful work that the organization has embarked upon.  This will also bring greater global awareness to the cause.

“I could not be more excited about Halle Berry’s decision to join me in fighting hunger,” says . “She brings talent, energy, generosity, and of course star power to a cause that is extremely important to me. I’m grateful that she has joined our effort and thrilled that we will be working side by side to end hunger.”

Halle Berry has been a big part of philanthropy and activism for many years.  For over a decade, she has committed her time and money to helping domestic abuse victims through her support of the Jenesse Center in Los Angeles.  Halle is also the Revlon Global Brand Ambassador and does her part for the Revlon Run/Walk For Women to raise money for cancer research and treatment.  And to top all this off, Berry was recently named an Honorary Chair for the upcoming Met Costume Gala that takes place at The Met on May 6, 2013.
