Even before its debut, it has created quite a stir in the world of television and master social media.  Launching on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018, an exciting new pilot series will premiere on FX at 9:00 pm ET. The name of the show is “POSE”, already well-known to those who have eagerly anticipated the first episode.

The show is a musical dance drama taking us back in time to the disco era, a different period of history when our culture dared to be disparate and ever so diversified in their train of thought and belief. The only way to truly dramatize that period is to have the show set in New York City, the melting pot of culture, a city that drew all kinds of interesting characters who spoke up for what they believed in, expressing themselves in places such as world-famous Studio 54. It is the year 1987 and “POSE” is said to “look at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York.”  Many will remember some of the notable highlights such as the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.

History is already being made by the writers, producers and actors taking part on this project even before its big debut. The show is compromised of the largest transgender cast ever brought together for a scripted series, 50 in total. It also has the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors.  Characters include greats such as Billy Porter, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, Evan Peters, Charlayne Woodard, MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, Angelica Ross, Ryan Jamaal Swain and Dyllon Burnside. Looks are transformed right before our very eyes. The show’s creators are just as talented. Both Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are best known for their work on the FX show Nip/Tuck which ran for many seasons as well as FOX’s hit musical show, Glee. Working with Ryan and Brad on “POSE” is the accomplished Steven Canals. Executive producer is Nina Jacobson (best known for her production of The Hunger Games), Brad Simpson (best known for his series ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson’ and American Crime Story) joined by Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh. Others, polished in their trade, that are part of the production team include Silas Howard, Our Lady J, Janet Mock and Erica Kay.

Get ready for plenty of drama, amazing dance moves which characterized that era and unbelievably sparkling costumes and masterful makeup metamorphosis moments. As the show continues to unfold over the coming weeks, we learn the titillating story behind each of these fictional yet complicated characters portrayed. The dance floor becomes the setting for a start of ruthless rivalry.

Eight episodes are set to kick off the first season. The viewing audience will determine the success of the show and whether production will continue with a Season 2. Examining some of the most controversial topics and taking parts of society back to a glamorous and sizzling year in time, “POSE” is sure to attract a wide range of viewers and keep their audience in great anticipation of how each episode will unfold. As the season gets going, fans will also be able to playback and watch episodes online on FX Networks at a time convenient for them.  There is no doubt that “POSE” will certainly present some tough competition for reality and regular series on other networks.
