On September 25, 2012, at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, California, the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards Nominations will be announced. Key members of the music industry and cultural community along with the Latin Recording Academy will be present. The Latin GRAMMY Award Ceremony itself will be broadcast live on the Univision Network from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on November 5, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards that evening will be Luz Casal, Leo Dan, Rita Moreno, Milton Nascimento, Daniela Romo, Poncho Sanchez and Toquinho To Be.
A new initiative is being launched by The Recording Academy. “Give Fans The Credit” seeks to enhance fans’ discovery of new music by ensuring all music creators are credited for their work on digitally released recordings. An online petition for fans to sign is available as well as they can get more information through www.givefansthecredit.com. Multiple GRAMMY Award winners will serve as Honorary Ambassadors. T Bone Burnett, Lamont Dozier, Sheila E., Skylar Grey, Jimmy Jam, Redone and Don Was will all fulfill this title. Keeping the fans informed and giving the proper musical creators the credits is what it is all about. The Ambassadors and other leaders at The Recording Academy will begin a series of discussions with digital musical services to brainstorm ways to deliver more robust crediting information on digital musical platforms.
Now is the time to submit letters of inquiry for the GRAMMY Foundation Grant Program which is proud to announce it is in its 25th year and has awarded nearly $6 million to more than 300 noteworthy projects. The grants are administered annually to organizations and individuals to support efforts that advance the archiving and preservation of the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas for future generations as well as scientific research projects related to the impact of music on the human condition. Recipients are determined based on criteria of merit, uniqueness of project and the ability to accomplish intended goals. Deadline for submission is October 1, 2012.
We all look forward to the annual “THE GRAMMY NOMINATIONS CONCERT LIVE – COUNTDOWN TO THE BIGGEST NIGHT IN MUSIC.” This pre-event to the top night in music is set to take place on December 5, 2012. LL Cool J. will once again play host but for the first time it will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee and will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS TV from 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET. It has been found that this is an opportune way to boost ratings for the actual 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards brought to the world live on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
So far Maroon 5 is set to perform on “The GRAMMY NOMINATIONS CONCERT LIVE” with more outstanding musical talent to be announced shortly. Find out more at www.grammy.com.
