Lady Gaga seems to be the current rage so its only logical that Barney’s New York has captured the craze. Gaga screams style in an individualistic sort of way and her iconic character has drawn fashion frenzy followers in to become a part of her wild world.

In what could be labeled a very unusual approach, Barney’s New York has converted their entire first floor of the Madison Avenue flagship store into Gaga’s Workshop for the holidays. Grand opening is slated for Monday, November 21st at 11:59 P.M. and will be open through January 1st (closed on Christmas Day). This is Lady Gaga’s interpretation of Santa’s workshop in her own world. Many talented individuals are sharing efforts to make sure that shoppers have an unforgettable experience. Artists Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson of Assume Vivid Astro focus (avaf), Mugler Creative Director, Lady Gaga Fashion Director, Nicola Formichetti and the Barney’s New York team with Creative Director, Dennis Freedman, have produced artwork of bright colors, geometric shapes and a type of psychedelic encounter. It can only be described as a funhouse of fashion.

The twelve days of Gaga has already begun leading up to the grand opening. Day 1 brought up the Gaga Face Cookie, Day 2 brought the stiletto stocking, Day 3 brought the Gaga Light Up Yo-Yo, Day 4 brought the Magnetic Gaga Doll Dress-Up Set, Day 5 brought the Gaga Rings and we are waiting with baited breath to see what Day 6-12 brings. The Collection itself will be kept under wraps to preserve the element of surprise.

Lady Gaga is launching the ‘Born This Way Foundation’ in 2012 and 25% of all sales of the new collection in the workshop at Barney’s will go to support this distinct cause. Bravery is inspired, youth are empowered towards acceptance, Humanity is embraced towards love and individuality is encouraged.

To promote her new workshop, Lady Gaga could not have picked a more appropriate dress for the video introduction. Elegantly adorned in a fishtail racer gown in navy sequins, the designer of choice is Norma Kamali and the dress is right out of her new Spring 2012 Collection.

Hollywood glamour still holds a place in Kamali’s heart. Her glitzy collection is full of shine, sequins, fringe, studs, stripes, tight-fitting minis and maxis, strapless orange knee-length dresses and even a mesh barely-there-exquisitely-embellished top to hold your man prisoner with the sultry look. The gold lame dress is a holiday pick that can be worn year after year.

Kamali has taken presentation to the next level and therefore the perfect collaborator to be chosen by Lady Gaga. She has launched the first fashion website to feature 3D video shopping pages. See the clothes in movement at different angles.

This week is the WWD Apparel and Retail CEO Summit at The Plaza Hotel in New York City and Norma Kamali will be one of the expert speakers.

This holiday season promises to be an exciting adventure at Barney’s New York but then again they have always been known for their innovative window dressing. We are eagerly awaiting the debut of Lady Gaga’s Workshop!! The countdown goes on……..
