MARRIAGES AND BREAK-UPS BY Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger
This week was marked with ups and downs in the world of celebrities, royalty and fashion.
Recently to the dismay of many, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger announced their separation after more than 25 years of blissful marriage. The decision was influenced by revelations that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with his housekeeper around the same time that his own son was born. It has been a heartbreaking time for Shriver and she would like the public to respect her privacy. Today a petition for divorce was filed by Maria Shriver citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ and a request for joint custody of the couple’s two minor children.

ABC fans will be disappointed to learn that lovely Emily Maynard and Brad Womack, recent ‘Bachelor’, have ended their fairy tale love affair. The engagement is off and Emily is eager to get back to a normal life. She will appear on ‘The Bachelorette’ on July 11th to speak out about the relationship and the break-up. Word has it that Brad did the final dumping over the phone. Apparently it has not been all wine and roses.

For every black cloud, there is a ray of sunshine breaking through. Famous supermodel, Kate Moss, walked down the aisle today to marry her sweetheart, Jamie Hince who is a rocker with the band known as The Kills. They married in Costwold, England. The couple met backstage at one of Hince’s concerts in 2007 and have been an item ever since. The bride’s gown was designed by John Galliano and fit her appropriately, a vintage-style dress with rhinestone detail. The groom wore a light blue Yves Saint Laurent suit, striped shirt and patterned tie.

Another royal couple has made history. Prince Albert of Monaco has wed his love, beauty Charlene Wittstock, former Olympic swimmer of South Africa. Wittstock greatly resembles Prince Albert’s late mother, Grace Kelly. There have been rumors overshadowing the couple recently but they did not let that deter their love. The celebration will continue into the weekend.

Not all relationships are meant to last forever, however, if a couple has love, optimism, trust and communication, they are on a path for a lifetime together of happiness.
