Young and old alike can always relate to the Wonderful World of Walt Disney. Now the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is exploring the colorful influence that Disney artist, Mary Blair, had on the world of animation.

On Thursday, October 20th at 7:30 PM, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Blair’s work in “Cinderella”, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Peter Pan” will be examined in a tribute called “Mary Blair’s World of Color: A Centennial Tribute”.This is the latest installment of the Academy’s Marc Davis Celebration of Animation.

Present will be the top animation artists who have been greatly influenced by Blair’s work. She continues to inspire and impact others as time goes on. The panel will be moderated by animation critic and film historian, Charles Solomon. Panelists include such monumental talent as Pete Docter, Mike Giaimo, Eric Goldberg, Susan Goldberg and Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi.

After the presentation, those in attendance will be treated to specially view a selection of Blair’s original works.

Mary Blair is best known for her design of Disneyland’s “It’s a Small World” attraction which she happened to work on with the legendary animator, Marc Davis, for whom the lecture series is named.

Tickets for “Mary Blair’s World of Color: A Centennial Tribute” will go on sale Monday, October 3. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID.
