The coveted winner of the “Mercedes-Benz Presents” Designer of the Fall 2012 Season Award is avant-garde, chic designer, Naeem Khan. He has creatively dressed many a beauty of culture and refinement such as Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Penelope Cruz and even First Lady Michelle Obama. His fashions can be seen in such dazzling hits of the television and movie screen as Sex and the City and Dreamgirls.
It is customary for Mercedes-Benz to select a special designer each season; one that reflects the brand name in the area of high style, quality materials and innovation. The Mercedes-Benz is a vehicle of class and sophistication fashioned for the customer that knows exactly what they want. Throughout Fashion Week at Lincoln Center, the 2012 ML63 AMG SUV will be on display along side pieces of Naeem’s collections.
What sets Khan apart from his counterparts is his eye for stunning detail. His clothing is all embroidered by hand. With his Indian background, he can easily relate to the cultural appreciation of his own collections. With his decision to enter into the fashion world, he has followed in the footsteps of his family who also were designers for the royal families. There was no better mentor than Halston whom he apprenticed for in his teenage days, absorbing and filling himself with much knowledge.
The first Naeem Khan Collection was launched in 2003 and sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. How far he has come and his clothing is sold at over 100 specialty stores across the globe. In 2008, Khan was inducted as a member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America.
TIMELESS was one of Khan’s elegant collections made for HSN in October 2009. Its popularity was evident as the collection was sold out in minutes of hitting the network. Every woman needs a touch of grace and majesty and these opulent evening gowns hold a magic for each and every customer. The popularity overcame him and in November 2011, he launched an extension of the TIMELESS Collection, a Tissavel faux fur line with hats, scarves, vests and coats.
