Nautica signifies a trusted lifestyle brand not only for men but for women, kids and accessories and home goods are also part of their name. The brand sets the trends so that others may follow. It is all about water and what better way to capture adventure in a relaxing spirit than with clothing that looks terrific. Nautica comes from the Latin word “Nauticus” for ship with the Nautica logo being a spinnaker, a timeless symbol of adventure and exploration.
Not only is the brand about fine clothing helping you to rediscover your true being, but the company has become the largest corporate sponsor of Oceana, a global ocean conservation organization. The year 2012 marked the Nautica launch of the ‘Give Change to Make Change’ campaign with charity: water, a non-profit organization that contributes 100% of public donations to fund clean water projects in developing nations. Nautica is also title sponsor of the nationally recognized NAUTICA Malibu Triathlon and the NAUTICA South Beach Triathlon. Staying active is what Nautica is all about and each collection gives you a reason to shine with an inner energy and vitality.
The Nautica Mens’ Fall 2013 Collection was all about bundling up. The inspiration was the nautical expeditions of Sir Ernest Shackleton. This was the Black Sail Collection, a modern interpretation crafted with fisherman cables, novelty yarns and colored shearlings.
V-neck sweaters were perfect for layering and the cargo pant looks great for any season. Parkas trimmed in fur with half gloves prepare you for the slopes. Whether it be turtlenecks or sweat pants, comfort seems to be part of the picture. A popular item was the many faces of the coat with wool panels. We saw snorkle coats, duffle coats, captain’s coats all in colors that will brighten the fall.
There is always a bit of tailoring going on as single-breasted sports jackets and a blue cotton oxford shirt make the man. The marino wool sweaters were definitely a favorite for the man on the go.
As is customary, most of the models looked like they stepped right out of the pages of GQ Magazine. The combination of striking good looks, a confident sense of style, a winner’s wardrobe and 30 years of sought-after collections made this one especially memorable. Creative Director, Chris Cox, delivered on innovation and fashion that distinguishes Nautica as the leader in fashion with a purpose.
