New York City Receives A Visit From The Royal Couple

Washington and New York City have truly enjoyed the presence of the Royal Couple, if only for a brief number of days.
On Monday, December 8, 2014, a photo that will most likely make the history books, was taken of Prince William sitting and exchanging conversation with President Obama. In these times of turmoil on an international level, it is always refreshing to reinforce the strong bond shared between the United States and the United Kingdom.
Before heading back to New York City to join the Duchess, Prince William gave a compelling talk and participated in a discussion at the World Bank about illegal wildlife trafficking, one of the many causes that he supports and rallies for.
The hustle and bustle of the Big Apple has kept the couple extremely busy and they certainly are not slowing down as their New York City stay comes to an exuberant end. They took part in one of the exciting traditional things to do by local residents, attend a New York Nets Basketball game at the new venue in Brooklyn. Although the home team lost, it didn’t seem to discourage fans as their interests were captivated by the Royal Couple. At that same game, it just so happened that Jay-Z and Beyonce’ were right across the stadium, but, distance didn’t make a difference as the couples introduced themselves at half-time.

So much to see in the glorious city and yet so little time……the agenda called for a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum on Tuesday morning, December 9, 2014. As William and Kate glanced down on one of the reflecting pools in the chilly rain, they wanted to show their deep sincerity and heartfelt sympathy for all those lives lost on that day. They laid flowers down with a handwritten note that read: “In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th September and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild. William and Catherine.”
Prince William is no stranger to supporting humanitarian and environmental causes. He follows in his mother’s footsteps in so many treasured ways. When William and Kate got married in 2011, instead of receiving wedding gifts, they chose to have their guests give donations to some of their favorite charities. One of the most passionate causes for both the Prince and the Duchess is children. On Tuesday, December 9th, during their visit, they took part in an event hosted by The Door and CityKids Foundation. Both organizations are involved with arts education and youth development centers for disadvantaged youths in the West Village of New York City. Just the day before, Kate had enthusiastically visited a children’s craft group in Harlem, marveling at the children’s creativity and charisma.
Bordering on the most touristy portion of the trip, Prince William decided to climb the stairs of the Empire State Building on Tuesday, December 9th, with Mayor Bill de Blasio by his side. As they looked out over the cityscape, the Mayor was very proud of his magnificent city. The rain had subsided so Prince William could really enjoy the view.

This evening, you could see the flash of the cameras for miles down the street as onlookers and paparazzi did their best to capture photos of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, entering the Metropolitan Museum of Art for St. Andrews 600th Anniversary dinner along with other distinguished guests.

The Royal Couple has been welcomed by the United States once again with open arms and warm hearts. Perhaps the next time that they pay us a visit, it will be the entire family with the two children. Kate is due with her second child in April 2015.
This was a very special treat for all those who had the opportunity to meet and greet or even catch a glimpse of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.
