These days Fashion Weeks take place around the world and the fashions previewed are not just about the adults anymore but also about adorable kids with sparkling eyes and modeling cutting-edge fashions.

It was a big weekend in New York City recently as Spring/Summer 2013 Kids Fashion Week petitePARADE hit the runway in collaboration with Vogue Bambini.  It all took place on October 20 and 21, 2012 at Industria Superstudio.

International and domestic designers unveiling their latest collections included Baby CZ, Bonnie Young, Miss Blumarine, Halabaloo, Lilly Pulitzer, Joe’s Jeans Kids, Caramel Baby & Child, Inca Girls Swimwear, Lamantine Paris, Mischka Aoki, Ooh! La La! Couture and T-Shirt T-Shops.

This season brought with it many new and exciting concepts carried out for the audience’s delight.  A dazzling SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS showcase of rainbow and crystal was added to the parade with the launch of its multi-brand fashion show featuring customized, commercial designs with SWAROVSKI crystals.  In addition, Parsons the New School for Design curated a fashion show featuring their top children’s wear design graduates.

Getting in on the action as the Official Trend Sponsor was Stylesight, the respected industry leader in providing global content for the style, fashion and design industries.  Stylesight covered the show on the runway, behind the scenes and on the street.

As a partner to this incredible event, VOGUE Bambini contributed to the success and professionalism of this mini Fashion Week.  “petitePARADE is the first fashion event dedicated to the children’s design world. It is a surprisingly fun way for editors, moms, bloggers, buyers and children to come together for a weekend and discover new trends, play with fashion and choose a new wardrobe,” said Giuliana Parabiago, Editor-In-Chief of VOGUE Bambini.

Spotted in the front row were some notable attendees taking it all in; the Novogratz Family from HGTV’s Home Novogratz, Zoya Loeb and Brian Atwood.

These pint-sized wonders were dressed to impress from head to toe.  Some of the highlights included ruffles and lace in dainty dresses, suits for boys and suits for girls, stripes and polka dots and mixing patterns, full ballerina skirts and plenty of florals, rainbows of colors in dresses, shorts and light jackets for boys to get them through the spring and jean vests with lining. The fabrics are an important way to give the clothing a sense of expression.  All the beaming and bright smiles were priceless and enthusiastic extras on the runway and certainly a huge selling feature for every designer line shown over the two day period.  The international influence was felt in the fashions of Parsons School of Design with layers of originality.

There was no better way to close the weekend than with sweets, treats and the beats of eight-year-old DJ Kai Song at the petiteBALL.

Petite guests enjoyed the Swarovski Sparkling Craft Workshop in support of Only Make Believe,  a non-profit organization that creates and performs interactive theater for children in hospitals and care facilities.  Participating designers included Baby CZ, Bonnie Young, Imoga, Pale Cloud, Mischka Aoki, Aston Martin, Miss Bluemarine, Monnalisa, Hitch-Hiker, Ki6, La Piccola Danza, Sarabanda, Silvian Heach, Floatimini, iNTAKT, Kissy Kissy, Liv & Lily, Mali Kids, Millions of Colors, Olivia Rose, Pimalinda, Snopea, Stella Cove, Umi Shoes and Zutano.

The generous sponsors that made it all possible included Ace Hotel,Glaceau (Smart Water, Vitamin Water), Glop & Glam, Stride Rite Children’s Group, The Little West Group, Bitsy’s Brainfood, Crispy Green Snacks, Motherhoodwonders, Funky Monkey Snacks, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, milkPOP, Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit Co., Pirate’s Booty, Doodle Doos Children’s Salon, Rumba Time, Baked by Melissa, American Apparel & Workshops in support of Only Make Believe and The New York Foundling.
