Putin for President By: Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger
Vladimir Putin may be back in the spotlight again as he confirmed running for President of Russia in 2012. Current Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, has endorsed him.
If Putin were to win, he requested that Medvedev take over as Prime Minister.

As the news was announced, Putin was given an overwhelming applause and standing ovation. His popularity supersedes his reputation and he has already served a lengthy term in office from 2000 to 2008.
Both men believe they have preserved and restored their beloved Russia. They will not hand their country back to those who fall on empty promises.
Putin’s platform is to grow the Russian economy by 6-7% and within 5 years to make Russia one of the five most powerful economies in the world. He would also like to rearm the Russian army.
Putin stepped down in 2008 due to restrictions of the Constitution which limit a President to 2 consecutive 4-year terms. Since 2008, the Constitution has been amended to raise the 4-year term to a 6-year term. This could mean that if Putin succeeds in becoming President, he could remain in office until 2024.
