During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 held July 19th – July 23rd on steamy South Beach, it was nice to take time out to relax and unwind in The Lifestyle Retreat Lounge located at The Shelborne Hotel and hosted by The Daily Front Row.

We were able to indulge in Polish & Co. complimentary manicures, Mary Kay makeovers, BaBylissPro blowouts and styling sessions in addition to taking in some fabulous new swimwear and product lines.

One designer stood out with an eye-catching collection meant to look fantastic on the figure.  Rica Swimwear has become one of the most talked about lines to dive into the fashion world today.

The designer, Ava Sanjurjo, was born and raised in the Bronx in New York City.  Fashion has always been a priority to the Sanjurjo family and Ava knew exactly where her passion resided at a very young age.  She pursued her love at the famous Fashion Institute of Technology and continued to be influenced by her surroundings and culture which inspire her continually to design some extraordinary pieces.  Keeping with the theme that with experience comes knowledge, Ava has worked for some large scale swimwear manufacturers to bring her to the position she is at today.  The luxurious fabrics from Spain, which are handcrafted into form flattering shapes are coupled with innovative designs to offer the customer unique swimsuits and cover-ups.

Her artistic spirit, determination and drive have resulted in a second successful collection beginning to gain worldwide recognition and worn by some of the top name celebrities.

Many highly respected fashion publications have featured Rica Swimwear including Women’s Wear Daily.  Perhaps one of the top honors for 2012 was seeing model Michelle Vawar wearing Rica Swimwear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2012 and appearing ever so confident and glamorous in a Rica Swimsuit.

One of the most popular suits is the green graphic one-piece with mesh sides.  If you are striving for unique and uncanny, the blue maillot with center circle cut-out is the perfect choice.  Remember to bring the sunscreen and compliments will abound.  Important parts of many of the suits are the design elements of peek-a-boo triangles, mesh materials and criss-cross side straps.  Tie front halter tops paired with side-tie bikini bottoms exhibit a clean confidence.  Cover-ups go from simple and chic to floor length flattering with sultry side slits.

On Saturday, July 21st, as Rica Swimwear premiered this hot new collection at the Shelborne Hotel, celebrity attendees included Nina Agdal and Julie Henderson, both Sports Illustrated models.

We can definitely see why discerning women are raving about Rica Swimwear and we know that you will too.
