REPORTING ON THE RED CARPET

 Now is the chance for college students around the country to compete for the greatest prize of all; the opportunity to report live from the Red Carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards in February.  This contest is made possible by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Entry is open until Sunday, February 5th.  Submit a 3 minute video to redcarpetjournalist.com to showcase your interviewing skills and prove that you deserve to represent all the future broadcast journalists at the prestigious Oscar Awards.  Teams should be comprised of one reporter, one producer and one videographer.  Sixteen finalist teams will be chosen with two teams from Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh and San Francisco (ABC-Owned Television Station Markets).  The winners will be chosen by an expert panel of judges from The Academy and KABC-TV.

The winning team will ultimately be flown to Los Angeles and participate in all the great events associated with the Oscars – Animated Feature Symposium, Foreign Language Film Award Press Event, Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Symposium and the Governor’s Ball Preview.  The memories will continue with reporting live ‘On The Red Carpet At The Oscars’ pre-show (1:30 PM – 4:00 PM PT)

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
