Sponsored by such great names as Yahoo, Stella Artois, Moroccan Oil, Tiffany and Co. and Copa Airlines, Miami Beach International Fashion Week brought designers together from all over the globe. In a stellar procession of shows throughout four days of excitement, each of the designers proudly showed their collections on the runway.
One of the more unique designers making his way to the forefront of the fashion world is Bata Spasojevic who hails from Serbia and can proudly boast winning the MBIFW Designer Competition at Banja Luka Fashion Fair in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bata’s cutting edge clothing for both men and women shouts out individuality with every piece that you put on. Think wild and restless as you view the one-shouldered or strapless leather dress that fits tight as a glove in a seductive sort of way. A mix of black and turquoise colors criss cross across the dress to give it bright and dark contrast. The models were accessorized with black or beige platform heels. How about the short leather jacket with the high-backed collar and puffed sleeves? Paired with a bikini on the catwalk, the outfit was a real head turner.
Sparkles have dazzled the fashions of the runway for Fall/Winter 2011 collections and Spasojevic seems to carry that trend as he shows a black knee-length dress with a trim of green sparkles drawing an outline on the front of the dress.
The collection seemed to be a collaboration of biker babe meets rock star and the futuristic sunglasses were a great theatrical addition to each outfit.
In addition to the women’s fashion show that took place on Saturday, Spasojevic also presented a menswear line on Friday evening. Blacks and beiges dominated the collection. With a mixture of fabrics and looks, the versatility and wearability of the line is appealing. Silky shirts over jeans and straight-legged pants completed with jackets will look great on any man. Throw on a mesh netting shirt and have an informal night on the town.
Both shows were certainly hits at Miami Beach International Fashion Week and the best news of all is that Bata Spasojevic walked away on Sunday evening at the Miami Moda and Music Awards with the International Rising Star Award. Well deserved honor and it is a given that we will be seeing much more of his creative talents in the near future.
