Spring Forward With MB Fashion Week In NYC
By: Â Hope Wilkos, Writer
We are almost to that magical month in New York City. Â Not only is September a fabulous time to visit the Big Apple, but fashion dominates the city in a very special way. On September 4th, 2014, New York Fashion Week kicks off a whole new season of Spring 2015.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 will overtake Lincoln Center, and for the second season, welcome its participants, climbing upwards of over 110,000, to its renovated venue comprised of the new chic Salon. The Salon will now offer designers the ability to customize the runway setting in tandem with flexible seating schemes that allow them to better tell their brand story and vision. Similar to the recently launched Pavilion, the Salon offers the flexibility of downtown spaces while allowing designers to capitalize on the critical mass at Lincoln Center.  The roster of talent making a showing with collections seen for the very first time is impressive, indeed. Not only is there a diverse crowd from New York itself, such as Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren, but there is a class act of designers crossing the international divide.  Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and IMG Fashion  are proud to announce that 15 new designers will make their debut this season and the nations of Australia, Brazil, China, France, India, Israel, Italy, Korea and Spain all join the United States in a variety of sophisticated fashion presentations.Â
New York’s very own Nicholas K will kick off the week as the first show on September 4, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. This sister and brother team hold the key to refined fashion with that sophisticated edge. The week comes to a most charitable finish as Art Hearts Fashion Presentation By the Aids Healthcare Foundation takes to the theatre to showcase a variety of designers who all support the cause. You never know what celebrities will show up to do their part. Â This show takes place on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
In addition to close to 80 shows that will take place in and around Lincoln Center in the heart of New York City, it is not uncommon to see shows popping up in trendy parts of the city such as Chelsea and Tribeca.  Many an emerging designer has taken to a warehouse to intrigue anxious onlookers near the Pier, overlooking the River.  This is all done to cater to the needs and desires of the media, buyers, designers and the ever-growing fashion audience.  Although Michael Kors and Diane von Furstenberg will not be on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 schedule, there is rumor that they do plan on debuting their Spring 2015 collections at Spring Studios located in Tribeca.  Also showing in a different location this season will be Vera Wang, a highly respected designer.
With fitness being the largest fad as we head into 2015 and beyond, it is no wonder that Gap’s Athleta has decided to show a sport collection mixing fashion and fitness in the most sporty of manners.
The best part of all of Fashion Week is the ability that technology gives us to stream these shows live or go back and view the show again on our laptops. They will be streaming live as they take place. Either you can go to http://newyorkfashionweeklive.com or stay tuned to our website where they will be streaming live right on our homepage.
