Some of the top swimwear designers in the world have gathered to grace the sandy shores of South Beach for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 that has been held from July 19 – July 23, 2012.   Each designer showcasing their collection at the stylish event has a particular style catering to the needs and desires of their loyal clientele.

Nicole Di Rocco has consistently given us sexy, figure-flattering swimwear under the Nicolita Brand since 2003.  She is creatively inspired by her Cuban roots mixed with the Malibu mood.  This newest collection for 2013 is in collaboration with Christina Milian for an end result of an exclusive Nicolita Swimwear collection.

It seems appropriate that the collection is known as ‘Havana Nights’.  Versatile cover-ups take you from day to evening in a sophisticated and feminine way.  It seems to characterize the woman with a jet set lifestyle enjoying getting noticed.  Soft prints with a touch of that mischievous personality are evident in strapless tops and bikini bottoms revealing a dainty side bow.  Sheer palazzo pants are carefree yet elegant.  Animal prints still keep that sex appeal going and short ruffled skirts are flattering for a girlish look.

Colors such as turquoise blue, pretty peach and pleasurable pink put you in that relaxed frame of mind.  Two of my favorites were the ruffled black bikini strapless top and ruffled skirt bottom with a playful appeal and the one piece leopard strapless suit with cutaway sides.  Nicolita is for the young at heart with an eye for unmatched beauty at any age.

Another exciting international design team is Agua Bendita with that hint of water in their name.  In the last seven years, Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza have been rapidly moving to the top in the swimwear design world.  Their Columbian heritage is an important aspect of all of their collections and they use the finest materials with expert skill.  Handcrafted suits set the team apart in the design world.

This collection is labeled ‘Lovely Heroes’ as it pays tribute to the 700 men and women who work on all of the pieces.  We saw everything from neon colors, exquisite tribal prints, bikinis with military medals to shoes with sequins and bulky boots.

The short bolero was an important piece in this collection and some were matching the teeny bikini that they covered.  Intricate embellishment adorned some in olive and denim colors.  Vests were a unique and subtle way to get that sophisticated and effortless beauty.  The palette of colors was striking and low plunging one-piece suits will be a sure head-turner in any surroundings.

Tassles were strategically placed on cover-up pants for that Columbian flair.  Detailed design work went into a one-piece suit set on a canary yellow background.  The boy brief was popular as was the side-tie bikini bottom.  Patterns and prints made this collection stand out and every suit that was shown was a work of art.

Both collections shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 will have a special appeal for women of all ages as they dive into the swim season.
