Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week continues to move us into the future with style, class and originality but there is nothing more refreshing than going back to the fashion era of the 70’s.

On Monday, September 10, 2012, fashion took one step forward with some beautiful faces from the past as Norisol Ferrari introduced her sophisticated and stunning Spring 2013 collection modeled by some of the original ladies of fashion; Carol Alt, Alva Chinn, Karen Bjornson and legendary model, Carmen Dell’Orefice who just happens to be 81 years old and looking fabulous.

With big smiles and a graceful finesse, these women reminded us why we do so miss the supermodels of years past.

Spotted front row and enjoying the fashions was the lovely fashion conscious Olivia Palermo.

Norisol’s inspiration for this collection just happened to be Hollywood iconic beauties such as Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth who were known for their hour-glass figures and a sexy confident look that demanded respect and drew attention wherever they went.

Each outfit shown in this show carried with it a name befitting for the woman who chooses to wear it.  With names such as ‘Dancing With My Beloved’, ‘Mover and Shaker’, ‘An Affair To Remember’, ‘Tonight’s the Night’ and ‘The Last Tango’, you can let your imagination run wild as the looks were seen on the runway.

Interestingly enough, Ferrari kept her colors to neutral shades of black and white, beige and grey with red and peach thrown in for pleasing variety.

Tailored suits in greys and blacks pairing the timeless pencil skirt with the button down smart-looking jacket and simple black dresses  with a host of buttons from neckline to knee will make any career-minded woman the center of attention as she dominates the boardroom.

The slim cigarette pant was brought back to life with an adorable blouson-tie spaghetti strap top.  Wide brimmed hats worn to the side were so Audrey Hepburn chic as was the short cape coat with sash closure.

But the culmination of the presentation had to be the evening looks which really made the show. Rich fabrics of silk and satin were simply ravishing.  Long gowns fitting ever so close to the body were dramatically desirable with built in vest and tie-front wrap.

One of my very favorites was the silky strapless knee-length dress with black bustier top and flowing white silk skirt with a prominent black and red design on either side of the skirt.  It appeared that Spanish culture had a bit of influence in this piece.

In a peach and black satin gown with slightly graduated hemline, Carol Alt looked absolutely amazing and extremely comfortable on the runway.  The deep red lipstick and diamond cuff bracelets only added to her incomparable good looks.

Carmen Dell’Orefice was enjoying the runway and there is no doubt that her striking beauty and vivacious personality contributed to one of the best shows of this season.

Seeing these remarkable fashions on the runway, it is apparent that Norisol Ferrari’s clientele and loyal followers are of all ages and she understands the clothing that a woman desires in order to make a strong statement of confidence and class.
