Yesterday, November 30, 2012 , was the official deadline for 2013 Tribeca Film Festival submissions and we wish all the entrants the best of luck and look forward to seeing all the new and inventive films that will premiere at the festival in 2013.
However, it isn’t all about the films during this festive and giving season. Tribeca is working with American Express to do their part to assist small businesses across the nation. You can easily compare it to independent filmmaking. Sometimes it is tough to try and make it in this demanding world. We all need that tiny boost now and again and Tribeca Film Festival knows what it takes to succeed in the world these days.
Tribeca Film Festival is also spotlighting all the generous ways that caring individuals can do their part to help those still affected by Hurricane Sandy. Hurricane Sandy Relief stretches far and wide to target families, businesses, communities and individuals that have been affected. Tribeca’s non-profit Tribeca Film Institute will make a donation to the Mayor’sFund to Advance New York City as a means to help with the rebuilding efforts.
Just in time for Christmas, Edward Burns launches “The Fitzgerald Family Christmas” from Tribeca Film. Burns is actively involved on a yearly basis in everything that the Film Festival stands for. He continues to maintain his films on a small budget with a large and meaningful storyline to be told to audiences. He inspires film students and filmmakers alike bringing to fruition the thought that anything can be created and expressed from the heart for the world to witness in film.
As with all his films, Edward Burns puts you in the middle of the plot in this enlightening film becoming available on iTunes. It looks at the core of the family as the siblings of the Fitzgerald family must decide if the dad who abandoned them 20 years ago can get past their differences and welcome him home to spend the holidays with them. It is a 5-star movie worth viewing to touch your heart with plenty of soul-searching and trials and tribulations.
