Vera Wang Enters the World of Menswear

Accomplished fashion designer and native New Yorker, Vera Wang, has drive, ambition and most of all a very special sense of her clients’ needs. She has mastered style and dabbled in a number of successful ventures attracting customers from every walk of life all around the globe.
Vera Wang was the youngest Vogue Fashion Editor at the age of 23, giving her the opportunity to work closely with some of the great names in the fashion industry and increasing her knowledge of the business. In 1990, the world was introduced to Vera Wang’s brand new company. At that point, she began soaring to the top. In 2005, the Council of Fashion Designers of America honored Wang’s innovation and dedication by naming her “Womenswear Designer of the Year”. She was again nominated in 2009 as Accessory Designer of the Year.


While the looks of Wang’s collections are sometimes simple in a sophisticated way, the amount of detail and intricacy that go into the designs are amazing. The Fall 2011 Collection mixed fur and feathers with sheer lightweight fabrics layered and flowing with that feminine attitude.


The latest showing of Wang’s Spring 2012 Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012, combined bright and vivid colors with neutrals and traditional sheaths and tailored dresses became provocative in original shapes with the V-neckline signifying glamour. Small sequins and large slits were extremely suggestive.


Vera Wang has branched out into bridal, footwear, eyewear, fragrance, china and crystal, silver, flowers, home fragrances and mattresses.

In 2007, ‘Simply Vera’ was launched in Kohl’s Department stores. This gave customers who wanted to purchase some of Wang’s pieces a more affordable alternative.

Now, the latest venture for Vera Wang is her entrance into the world of mens formalwear. She will be designing tuxedos for The Men’s Wearhouse Inc. This large retailer is the leader in the tuxedo rental business. The new collection will be labeled ‘Black by Vera Wang‘ and will be available in late spring 2012. The look will be modern and sophisticated in an ultra-lightweight fabric. The union of the trusted men’s retailer and Wang’s well-respected reputation and eye for design will lead to very exciting results in the coming year.
