New York Fashion Week, held every September, seems to hold even more excitement for a select group of fashion honorees.
The Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards salute outstanding individuals and media outlets, in the fashion world, as well as bring rising stars to the forefront of the industry, making them the ones to watch as they quickly rise to the top. On Thursday, September 8, 2016, much anticipation led up to the fourth annual Fashion Media Awards which took place at the reputable Park Hyatt in New York City.
An evening of stylish celebration was certainly an understatement. Some of the biggest names in fashion could be seen attending the event. Besides the actual presenters and award winners, such prestigious beauties as Sailor Brinkley Cook, Anna Cleveland, Nina Agdal, Hilary Rhoda, Lauren Hutton and Jacquelyn Jablonski could be seen enjoying the limelight and socializing with friends and colleagues throughout the evening.
Leading off the evening as the Master of Ceremonies was the very talented actor, author and activist, Alan Cumming. Cumming added a bit of genuine conviviality to the event. Many of those that took to the stage needed little to no introduction. The audience couldn’t have been more pleased at the victorious choices to present and walk away with the glass trophy signifying success.
Gigi Hadid introduced her friend and mentor, Tommy Hilfiger, as the 2016 Fashion Visionary. The designer recently collaborated with the popular model to produce a line named after Hadid, very nautical and nicely done.
Miles McMillan took home the award for 2016 Male Model of the Year and it was presented to him by photographer/artist, Jack Pierson.
Adriana Lima took to the stage to introduce Fashion’s Best September issue , LOVE/Katie Grand.
Doing double duty, both Celine Dion and Carine Roitfeld congratulated Sebastian Faena for being awarded 2016 Photographer of the Year.
Jefferson Hack, publisher and editorial and creative director, announced Best Campaign of the Year went to Melisa Goldie for Calvin Klein.
Following in the footsteps of her supermodel mom, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber took home Breakthrough Model of the Year, presented by debonair designer, Marc Jacobs. Another high-profile designer, Tom Ford, announced that Jim Nelson and GQ Magazine won the award for 2016 Best Men’s Magazine. A model with class and sophistication, Jourdan Dunn, presented Eva Chen and Maybelline NY with an accomplished award. The statuesque Karlie Kloss was thrilled to be able to let Derek Blasberg know that he had won TV Personality of the Year for his show, CNN Style. He is looked up to by many industry experts and his show is enjoyed by all. Emily Ratajkowski presented Magazine of the Year to Glenda Bailey for Harper’s Bazaar.
This was certainly a popular event for many of the guests to slip into that ‘little black dress’ which seemed to dominate the ballroom of the Park Hyatt. From long to short, shear to covered, black was the color of the hour.
