This year ‘The Miss USA’ competition seemed to take on a more contemporary and modern image.  The pageant was held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012.  Even the stage provided a unique backdrop.  As the girls paraded down the runway  by state in different themed outfits, each was as stunning as the one before.  Flowing, long locks, flawless complexions, bright red lips and accentuated eyes seemed to create controversy on natural beauty vs. the touched up glamour.

For both the evening and the bathing suit competition, the reigning designers are no strangers to Fashion Week.

Sherri Hill creates the most exquisite gowns with embellishment and intricate detail which epitomizes the ultramodern woman of today.  With glistening creations on the runway and fabrics of the highest quality in innovative silhouettes, Hill seemed to be the designer of choice to show off the hour-glass figures of these top contenders vying for the ultimate coveted title.  Sherri Hill was a favorite during Spring 2012 Fashion Week as Kendall Jenner showed off the collection as one of the models bedazzled in jeweled creations at Trump Tower.

The Miss USA finalists modeled swimsuits from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim designer, Kooey Swimwear Australia. This brand is a big hit on the beach deriving its inspiration from the Australian heritage.  ‘Cooee’ is an Australian call to attract attention over long distances and how befitting for these striking suits.

Some of the contestants wore the dot-art print suits in flattering colors while others chose brilliant solids to compliment their tans.

Kooey Swimwear Australia creates a variety of suits for a multitude of figures and pageantry seems to be their passion as they are the official swimwear of Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Universe Australia 2012.

Miss Rhode Island, 20 year old Olivia Culpo, was crowned Miss USA after a night of tough competition including a difficult question about a scenerio regarding a transgender contestant to which she had a very appropriate and intelligent answer for.  Olivia wore a Sherri Hill fuchsia evening gown and a Kooey Swimwear Australia lilac bikini.

Jasmyn Wilkins of Georgia was 4th runner-up, Jade Kelsall of Nevada was 3rd runner-up, Audrey Bolte of Ohio was 2nd runner-up and Nana Meriwether of Maryland was 1st runner-up.

It was an evening of ravishing and regal beauty and recognition for the designers as well.

Miss USA will now go on to compete in The Miss Universe Pageant in December of this year.
