2013 LATIN BILLBOARD AWARDS

Miami was sizzling on Thursday, April 25, 2013, as the Red Carpet was rolled out for the 2013 Latin Billboard Awards. The glamour and glitz took place at Bank United Center at the University of Miami. The event was broadcast live on Telemundo Television.
It was a tribute to the Mexican-American singing superstar, Jenni Rivera, whose life ended tragically last year in a plane accident in Mexico. Her father accepted the award graciously on behalf of his daughter that he was so proud of for all her accomplishments.
Don Omar, hot Reggaeton artist, was another star of the evening as he took away many of the top honors.
Mexican singing legend, Jose Jose, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Album of the Year went to bachata star, Romeo Santos for his album titled “Formula: Vol. 1”. He dedicated his prizes to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings as well as to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Newly appointed judge for the hit show ‘The Voice’, Shakira, walked away with a number of honors on this special evening.
This three-hour show was jam-packed with surprises. Performances were energetic including dancers, flashing streams of light and instrumentals. Marc Anthony took to the stage to entertain the lively audience after having spent a few days in Miami leading up to the big award evening.
As with every award ceremony, fashion ruled the evening. Sequins dripped from the gorgeous gowns and ruffles gave the gowns a sense of fairytale flavor.
Strapless, plunging necklines, short and long and graduated lengths, hour-glass and flowing fit were all setting the scene on the Red Carpet.
Metallics, tulle, lace and silk all glistened under the bright lights.
Loose and long curls, voluminous tresses and golden highlights were hints that summer is soon approaching. Bronze glows and wet glossy lips dominated the makeup trends. The eyes were the center of attention with subtle greens and blues finished with a thin black line and lengthening mascara to add plenty of definition in front of the camera.
It is evident that Latin music is making a strong comeback these days and this electrifying evening proved just how true this observation is.
