71st ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES ‘TOAST FOR A CAUSE’

It may seem like the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards, held on Sunday, January 12, 2014, were all about receiving and recognition for the most creative and influential artists of the past year. It was a who’s who of celebrities beaming with pride, talent, self-confidence and plenty of humor to surround this glorious event.

The fashions were absolutely gorgeous and the glamour on this long-awaited evening was all about glitter, glistening metallics, neutrals, deep greens and striking purples in addition to sultry plunging necklines along with hour-glass shaped gowns accentuating the figures and making the wearer feel  ‘golden’.  Cate Blanchett scored a high “A” with an Armani lace black backless gown.  Valentino dressed up Amy Adams in fiery red .

The champion of the People’s Choice Awards, Sandra Bullock, chose a pink/black/blue gown of a satiny texture. She was in great spirits and excited to be part of the festivities, still on a high from the previous week’s winnings.

Simple but one of the top winners of the evening as far as fashion was concerned, Lupita Nyong’o, stepped out on the Red Carpet in a Ralph Lauren off-the-shoulder crimson cape gown.  Her performance in ’12 Years A Slave’ did not go unrecognized. She was brimming with smiles.

It was a very interesting combination for the lovely Margot Robbie of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ fame, as she paired green heels with a side slit white Gucci gown trimmed in green at the shoulders.

Many of the attendees were showing off their baby bumps such as Kerry Washington, Drew Barrymore and Olivia Wilde. They had a definite glow about them.

Hair was styled to perfection, sometimes in an undo, other times swept to the side in a pony tail, even long flowing curls and it seemed as if pixie cuts are becoming more and more popular these days. What we like to call ‘man buns’ could be seen on a few of the Golden Globe men nominees/winners.

The very vivacious team of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made the evening even more eventful as they hosted the award ceremony, adding a touch of comedy when you least expected it. Nobody in the room was safe from being given attention, whether good or bad, by the comedic duo.

However, there was a more serious side to the evening, a more charitable and generous way to give back to those that need it the most. It was a time to step back from the glitz of Hollywood and devote attention to philanthropy.

Moët & Chandon, the official champagne of the Golden Globes for the 23rd consecutive year, marked the five year anniversary of its popular philanthropic initiative, “Toast for a Cause,”. Celebrities, including Sandra Bullock, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Spacey, Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Matthew McConaughy, Idris Elba, Amber Heard and more joined Moët & Chandon this year for “Toast for a Cause.”   Moët & Chandon donated to charities such as Warren Easton Charter High School , supported by Sandra Bullock, UNICEF, supported by Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio’s personal charity, Leonard DiCaprio Foundation  and the Kevin Spacey Foundation, supported by Kevin Spacey, The Art of Elysium, supported by Amber Heard.

Through “Toast for a Cause,” Moët & Chandon celebrates charity and honors its history as the “Champagne of Cinema.” An annual charitable program that has become a staple among Hollywood’s biggest stars, “Toast for a Cause” invites Golden Globe nominees and celebrities on the red carpet to raise a toast with Moët Impérial minis in support of their favorite charities. For each toast raised, Moët & Chandon donates $1,000 to the chosen charity in the nominees’ names.   Champagne continues to flow from the time the celebrities hit the Red Carpet until the last flute is raised at the after-parties.
