It was certainly a fantastic day of fashion on Day 2 of Mercedes-Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week, but the culmination of the evening was the magical Falguni and Shane Peacock Spring/Summer 2012 Show which ironically also ended the evening.

This husband and wife team gave us an original and unique collection which seemed to be a combination of rock star and mystical diva with a bit of fantasy thrown into the mix. Every look was as individualistic as the one before it.

Spirited designs and rich imprinted artistic pictures adorned the pieces. The free flowing fabrics importantly characteristic for Spring 2012 were seen on the runway along with form-fitting dresses in many silhouettes to accentuate the perfect figure. It was a theatrical bonanza of beautiful fashions. Deep red or bold black turbans were dramatic headpieces to accessorize the outfits.

Intricacy is very important to the design team and could be easily seen in their feather detail, embellishment and sequins. Powerful colors such as ominous orange, gallant red, glittering gold, steaming scarlet, beaming black and yellow were part of the palette. Chiffon, tulle, velvet, satin and lycra were fabrics of choice. Leather harnesses and chain detail along with eagle motifs were used in unusual ways to complete some of the transcendent outfits.

The runway was transformed from low cut jersey gowns fastened at the waist with a brooch and a slit up the leg to short spider-webbing outfits suggestive of a wild dream. A short sparkling black and yellow dress was finished with a feather hemline. The madness continued with cutout bodycon dresses.

The use of fabric, color and design was simply artistically amazing.

There could be no better ending to the show than the two-toned black and blond haired wonder wearing a pirate’s patch across one eye and a sparkle in the other eye with deep red lipstick, sexy garter, tights, shear leotard fastened with suspenders and black heels giving the outfit an edgy look. She was none other than the up and coming pop/heavy metal singer Porcelain Black known for her recently released single, “This is What Rock and Roll Looks Like”.

Famous followers of Falguni and Shane Peacock were the ever fashion passionate diva and comedian, Joan Rivers, looking sparkling and spunky sitting next to the lovely La La Anthony. April Margera and television personality Bam Margera posed for the cameras.

Real Housewives of New York blond superstar Alex McCord sat front row and center with her partner, Simon Van Kempen.

I feel privileged to have also been in the front row of this presentation of grandeur. This has to be one of my favorites so far at Mercedes-Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week and I will continue to follow the divine designers into the next seasons.
