A Recap of 3 Days of Fashion

A Recap of 3 Days of Fashion By Hope Wilkos, Blogger

We are now in Day 4 of IMG/Mercedes-Benz New York Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Week. The crowds of fashion enthusiasts are packed into Lincoln Center anxious to see all the new designer collections unveiled as well as catch up on the latest fashion trends for the season.

Walking into Lincoln Center, you can feel the excitement take hold of your senses. The sponsors of Fashion Week have made sure that those who have come for Fashion Week are certainly not disappointed.

Diet Pepsi is rolling out the new ‘Skinny Can’. The product is being given out to promote the new concept. DHL has a welcoming booth where you can sit and chat and just relax while people watching. Kim Crawford Wines is sharing some of their sumptuous wines through periodic taste testings. Maybelline, the New Face of Fashion, is introducing their new ‘Fit Me’ line of foundation made for flawless coverage for every skin type. Advice is always available from the helpful representatives stationed at the booth. TRESemme is displaying their newest products with sample bags given out as an added bonus to all who visit their booth. If you aren’t in a rush, sign up for a dry style and new look for the day with on-site stylists. AOL.com brings StyleList.com to the Center. Head on over and become part of the interactive booth where you can make a video direct from Fashion Week and send to friends and family to let them share in the experience. Need something to drink? Plenty of Fiji Water and Starbucks Frappuccino to go around to quench the thirst.

Right in the lobby of Lincoln Center there are two sleek driving machines displayed under the lights courtesy of Mercedes-Benz, the largest sponsor of the week. Take center stage and sit in the chic red convertible and have someone snap your picture for a keepsake.

As each day passes, there have been memorable shows that will certainly be labeled as the best of Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Week.
On Day 1, Irina Shabayeva was the last show of the day but certainly one of the finest. As a winner of Season 6 Project Runway, Irina has projected her creative talent to her designs. Boleros and full coats with imprinted silhouettes took to the runway in dark reds and vibrant blues. Satin evening gowns were, interestingly enough, paired with knit cardigans. The snowflake pattern was consistently a part of daywear and evening wear.

On Day 2, I was fortunate enough to get second row seating for Farah Angsana. Farah blended fantasy and reality and the result was a most glamorous collection of sequins, sparkles, satin and faux fur. Every woman is sure to feel like a Princess in one of her many creations.

On Day 3, there are two designers that capture the spotlight. Ironically, Binetti captures his fans with his futuristic approach to Fall/Winter while Vivienne Tam focuses in on duality, a balance of new and old, ancient and modern. Binetti bedazzled his audience with black tulle, bold sequins, jewels, brocade and ostrich fringe. Vivienne Tam wowed her guests with green and blue tweed, flower and dragon appliques, suede and flannel, shimmer turtlenecks and fringe. Her attention to intricate detail is so refreshing.

Day 4 is packed with traditional and exceptional designers such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Max Azria and Tommy Hilfiger so we know we are in for a real treat.

Stay tuned all during the week for more updates on this truly spectacular week.
