THE BRIGHT SIDE OF MB AUSTRALIA

Most recently from April 8th through April 12, 2013, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia celebrated another gorgeous season of sensational fashion. So many designers with so much talent gathered in one location to show the world how Sydney can easily compete with some of the top fashion capitals in the world today. Days were loaded with collections sparked with energy and imagination to bring us into the Spring & Summer Season 2013/14.
Word quickly spread that there was a designer brimming with talent. Her original designs were to be showcased on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Karla Spetic is just the type of designer that the fashion world looks up to. Winning two of the top honors in the business, “Top 10 People To Watch” in 2009 and “Best New Designer” in 2013 has put her front and center in the spotlight and she exceeded all expectations with this latest collection. Her initial label was launched at Australia Fashion Week in 2008. For Spetic, it all seems to be in the shapes of the outfits. She has become characterized by her key hole cutouts, plenty of sheer paneling, poetic draping and nonchalant silhouettes.
Each light and feminine dress flowed freely on the body and the collection was all about defining the woman’s shape. The little black dress can be worn in a multitude of ways and Spetic knows the secret of constructing fashions that turn heads in a crowded venue.
Perhaps one of the most intriguing patterns was the life-size drawing of Jesus on a colorful stained glass background. We saw this on a dress with a bottom ruffle, a striking sheath and a skirt and half-top. Religion was combined with fashion in a tasteful and beguiling manner.
Silky and shiny textures ruled the runway allowing the woman to show her softer side with a docile femininity.
The spring flower has a large influence over the season’s predominant trends perhaps because it signifies the beauty of warmth and brightness in the coming months. Spetic uses this trend as part of the palette embellished into a flattering lace spaghetti strap camisole and on below-the-knee skirts.
It was very difficult to decide on a favorite piece as they all set the tone for elegance and luxury and portray a fresh inner confidence of style.
With each collection that Karla Spetic conceives, she shows us her capacity of creation, her aptitude for design and her thrill for fashion at its finest.
