This year marked the 15th anniversary of the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Each year the show gets bigger and better and lights up the night with more beautiful ‘Angels’. The show was held in October in New York City at the Lexington Armory and televised on November 30th on CBS.
Although the traditional ‘Angels’, Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks, have put away their wings, a lineup of gorgeous models walked the runway. Scantily clad, 34 models represented Victoria’s Secret in an energetic and exciting extravaganza.
The show opened with a dimly lit stage. A carousel was in the background and red clouds hung low in the sky. Tough Love was the naughty yet imaginative theme. Black studded bra tops, knee high sparkle black boots, a red heart-shaped tiny corset and eagle wings with the words ‘Tough Love’ topped out the scene.
The themes throughout the show included a gingham-heavy country segment, an athletic segment and a sexy tribal segment.
Some of the highlights of the country segment included a gingham red riding hood bikini top, red ruffled sleeve jacket and little red and white skirt. Snowflake wings were coordinated with glistening gold, yellow and white and knee high brown boots.
The athletic segment featured a model dressed as a race car driver in a tight painted body suit. It was certainly a winner look. Down the runway marched a cute pink clad goalie. Ruby red and silver were the most appropriate colors for a feminine weight lifter with barbells included. The most inventive outfit of the evening was a sexy take on a soccer ball as a jacket. The clothes were accessorized with tall diamond-like platform shoes.
Nothing could compare to the tribal segment. Sparkles were everywhere. Leopard, wild thing, next to nothing bathing suits looked sensational and sensual. A brown and gold spotted cheetah ‘Angel’ glided down the runway with a mischievous expression. A lovely blond bombshell looked exquisite framed in gold jewelry and peacock wings with a peacock and deep blue undergarments to match.
The show wouldn’t be complete without “PINK”. It could only be described as balloons, bangles and stars. Shiny lucite wings, jackets and umbrellas were all part of the look. ‘Angels’ wore high rainbow colored socks. One of the highlights of this scene was the black and white bubble outfit. It was devilishly different.
The music made the show come alive with vitality. Performers included the ever popular Akon who serenaded innocent looking ‘Angels’ in white, silver, sparkles and diamonds. Katy Perry performed two of her best sellers in beautiful scene stealing outfits that flattered her lovely Snow White features.
Adriana Lima wore the most talked about item of the evening, a $2million diamond fantasy bra.
This year the show had more wings than in any other years past. It is every ‘Angel’s’ dream to wear wings and Chanel Iman, the youngest of the Victoria’s Secret family, was christened with her new full feather wings at this year’s show.
Every now and again the cameras focused in on celebrities in the audience such as Nicky and Paris Hilton and all seemed to be having a wonderful time.
The curtain goes down for 2010 but the Victoria’s Secret stores will be bustling with fans lining up to purchase the perfect VS holiday gift.
