Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week brings all glitter and gold and fashion designers with a celebrity following unveiling their newest collections. One of those greatly cherished designers is Dennis Basso. His fashions have been featured on the cover of top-selling publications and on the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, Elle and W.
Basso has been an asset to the design industry since 1983 both nationally and internationally. Women across the globe put on his clothing and lavish in each perfectly designed piece. This latest Fall 2013 Collection drew celebrities to view what Dennis Basso had in store for us. Olivia Palermo, Coco Rocha, Joan Collins, Joan Rivers, Carol Alt, Star Jones, Martha Stewart and Kelly Killoren Bensimon all were seen enjoying the show at The Stage venue in Lincoln Center.
Basso is hugely influential when it comes to fashion and fur and has even moved into the world of bridal gowns with an exclusive bridal collection. He has continued to open retail stores to fit the growing needs of his clientele. Basso is an inductee into the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America and philanthropy is one of his many passions. He supports the American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New Yorkers for Children and The Alzheimer’s Association which awarded him the Humanitarian Man of The Year Award in 2005.
This collection shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 is even more special because Dennis Basso is celebrating his 30th anniversary of designing aristocratic and opulent collections. For the collection, Basso was truly inspired by the great women of fashion who wore magnificent clothing in their era; fashion icons with a personal signature, their own stamp.
The collection gives us a more modern rendition of timeless and ageless glamour and yet it fits the all-around woman with a unique style of her own. Whether it be professional career dressing, casual and carefree or evening wear, Basso puts it all into perspective and gives it to us right at our fingertips. It was all about beauty dressing and feeling good in what you decide to put on.
Basso proves with the Fall 2013 Collection that he is the master of dazzling outerwear with a slate blue chinchilla anorak, an evergreen sable coat, luxurious parka with hood, fur caplet, shoulder wraps in fox and velvet as well as a reversible sable vest.
Dennis Basso definitely puts us under his spell with exquisite evening gowns, long-sleeve lace sheaths, full-skirted short dresses and magical gowns in hand-embroidered lace or tulle. Silver was glorious, glistening and absolutely gorgeous.
The long pant was shown in silky purple, breathtaking gold and bold and brilliant colors such as neon greenish yellow. Full-length gloves are a necessary accessory to accentuate Hollywood glamour with that Audrey Hepburn memory in mind.
Black leather jackets were paired over feminine sheer dresses and strapless gowns still hold an everlasting love in our hearts. A woman truly feels like a princess when she slips into these gowns.
This was truly a magnificent collection and once again, Dennis Basso certainly outdid himself proving that he knows exactly how to make a woman feel absolutely enchanting and bewitching.
