DESIGUAL BRINGS LOVE TO MB FASHION WEEK

High Fashion has a whole new look this season. It’s bright, it’s fun and it’s full of vivacious energy and plenty of pizzazz. One of the big openers of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 New York was Desigual with the brand’s Fall 2014 fashion presentation taking place on Thursday, February 6, 2014 in The Theatre venue at Lincoln Center.
This international brand is beginning to make a tenacious presence throughout the United States with styles and colors that breathe light and the promise of a happy day filled with sunshine and colorful dreams into each piece that is designed with a personalized approach to fashion and produced for loyal long-standing clients.
Celebrities braved the chilly New York temperatures on Thursday to see what Desigual had to offer for Fall 2014. Model Karolina Kukova, Siva Kaneswaran of “The Wanted”, Jill Zarin, Adrienne Bailon of “The Real”, Jackie Cruz and Vicky Jeudy of “Orange is the New Black” as well as Stassi Schroeder of “Vanderpump Rules” all are true to the brand that carries that international appeal and from the looks on their faces, this is going to be another successful collection. Not only did Desigual pieces grace the Fashion Week runway, but clothing from previous collections was also present on excited attendees such as Karolina Kukova and Adrienne Bailon.
You would expect the fall colors of brown, black and charcoal to take over the runway, but in the case of Desigual, the signature rainbow of colors set the runway ablaze. Beautiful blond Victoria’s Secret angel, Candice Swanepoel, both opened and closed the show in eye-catching looks.
The Fall 2014 Collection was filled with form-fitting jersey mini dresses, flowing maxi dresses graced with 70’s style inspiration, metallic festive wear and chic black & white graphic coats at New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week . Violet, navy, hunter green, burgundy, tawny were draped and tailored into minimalist simplicity radiating positivity in sumptuous jacquard, tulle and wool. Huge flowers in bold colors were absolutely magical to take us into the Fall. The backdrop was bathed in gold symbolizing the richness of the collection. Models had sparkling yellowish gold shadow covering their eyelids and tender curls framing their faces. In addition to chunky purses and platform heels, short gloves covered the hands of some of the models looking like velvet warmth in preparation for a season of cold.
Desigual is getting back to basics with a personal collection that reflects the enduring optimism found in Barcelona.
Inspired by the love of their hometown, the collection reflects the metropolis’ overlooked curiosities and magic—and tempts them to fall in love again with the places and things they think they know, but have more to offer than what lives in their minds. We can feel that ‘Love Is In the City.’
When Le Vida Es Chula, love is always in the air. Each model expressed her ‘love’ for life by creating a heart of love with their fingers as they fed the photographers plenty of photos and video. Some winked and others gave a great big smile. Not only were there the vivid colors on the fabrics but other interesting takes on fashion and design were quite evident with geometric shapes and even a full-size woman’s face on shirts and dresses. Textures popped on the runway soft to the touch. This was no ordinary show. The models had fun in the pieces and wore the designs with plenty of self-confidence.
