As the seasons progress, New York Fashion Week is evolving, feet first into the future, to meet the needs of its tech-savvy attendees and participants.

 

Although we all consider it ‘New York Fashion Week’ for as long as we can remember, when it was first founded in 1943, the fashion event was known as “Press Week.” With this week came plenty of fashion events held throughout the bustling city, and, kept in a calendar, without fail, by Ruth Finley. The increased attention and desire to be within the midst of such a magnificent part of New York City’s fashion scene began to grow. To accommodate that demand, white makeshift tents were erected in the very famous Bryant Park as the seasons came and went. These particular weeks became know as “7th On Sixth” and Fashion Week was organized and coordinated by the very prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America. (CFDA.com) From there, the event was handed off to another event giant, IMG, (IMG.com) and from there elegance ensued. One of the title corporate sponsors became Mercedes-Benz, and therefore, that is the reason for “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.”

Through all these various progressional changes, there has been one constant. The talent and energy that contribute to New York City’s stylish atmosphere and everlasting excitement has become legendary in its own special way.
