Dreams Can Come True

Recently, the 10th Annual Celebration of Dreams took place at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California on November 18th, 2011.
This was a very special event for many heartwarming reasons. The Dream Foundation is the only organization giving adults in the end stages of life an opportunity to have their dreams come true. What could be more rewarding? The honoree of the Founder’s Award was the ever popular contemporary designer, Donna Karan.
Her dear friend, Barbara Streisand, was on hand to present her with this award. Due to Karan’s involvement and dedication to The Urban Zen Foundation, this honor was bestowed upon her. The two foundations share many synergies in common.
Afterwards, the attendees were treated to a fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue and highlighting Donna Karan Spring 2012 Collection.
The collection is rich in beiges, browns, whites and blacks in solid and attention-grabbing patterns and prints. Color blocking is an essential part of the collection. Full flowing dresses and skirts look just as fabulous as the tight-fitting bandage dressing.
But there was so much more to this fulfilling evening. Grammy award-winning singer, Macy Gray, recording artist and American Idol finalist Pia Toscano, Naya Rivera and Amber Riley of ‘Glee’ and recording artist Jackson Guthy gave energetic performances.
A silent auction and live auction hosted by Dream Supporter, Dan Aykroyd, helped to make the evening a huge success with the money raised. Imagine a 7-day voyage on The World, the largest privately owned residential yacht on earth, a 5-star African Safari from Singita and Beyond, VIP seats to the Argentine Open in Buenos Aires, a private dinner with acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman and VIP tickets to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Donna Karan’s Fashion Week Show.
Some of the actual dream recipients were able to attend and recognition went to them as well as the outstanding amount of dreams that were able to be rewarded this year, over 2000.
The celebration was a mixture of fashion, entertainment, philanthropy and creative cuisine. What makes The Dream Foundation so unique and unparalleled is their thoughtfulness in making sure dreamers find closure with their loved ones and they focus on family time and cherishing that time together. Memories of peace and comfort are to be long-lasting.
