FALGUNI & SHANE PEACOCK TAKE US ON A FUTURISTIC FASHION RIDE

When it comes to the world of magical madness, Falguni & Shane Peacock stand out as the masters of ultimate creativity.
If there was any show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 that we eagerly awaited with an intense sense of excitement, it had to be Falguni & Shane Peacock Spring Summer 2013 Runway Show.
On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, was the day of the debut of the newest collection. As the lights dimmed in The Studio at Lincoln Center in New York City, we were immediately transported to a new and more stylish dimension in space with beautiful futuristically dressed space travelers making their way down the runway. This was in the true spirit of the designer duo’s captivating theatrical presentations season after season as a theme is unveiled and each piece makes a strong and charismatic statement.
This season brought us the theme of Space-Age Rockstar meets Cyber-Couture through a blackhole of sci-fi structure, shimmer and sparkle. The runway came alive with a surreal presence of intergalactic clothing.
The entire collection was a blend of ultramodern, space-age designs with very body-conscious silhouettes and plenty of beading, sequins, feathers and intricate embellishment that this team is so well-known for. Geometric prints in black and white and brilliant blue hues set this collection apart from many of the rest.
The collection stood out for flavorful feather accents, original perfected prints, high-tech fabrics and laser cut detailing.
Rich colors, extreme fabrics and clever color combinations gave the collection an exaggerated edge and the gold dresses glistened and glorified the models on the runway.
We had a vision of planetary plastic transparent trims, metallic acrylics cropped and used in technics and teamed with structured shapes contrasted against sharp lines. Sheer reflective textures tantalized. Perhaps the most wearable and versatile pieces in the collection were streamlined trousers, fitted bodices and tailored jackets.
Slicked back hair shaped the look with minimal jewelry and a set of dark sun cateye shades here and there. Dress lengths went from sultry and short to long and lavish.
Falguni & Shane Peacock put their heart and souls into each collection and it was overwhelmingly apparent. Perhaps that is why they have so many loyal celebrity followers namely Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Osbourne, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, Jessie J., Christina Ricci and Kristen Stewart.
In the front row of this star-studded show could be seen Louise Roe, Adam Lambert, Charlotte Ross, Phlo Finister, Carah Faye of Shiny Toy Guns, Neon Hitch and Paris Hilton all taking in the presentation and most certainly picking out the pieces that they wanted to call their own. Once again, the design team outdid themselves with a spectacular Spring Summer 2013 collection.
