Tribeca Cinemas is a world set apart by emotions and sometimes imagination that happens all year long in the cultural capital of the United States, New York City.

With the month of September comes a fabulous event that will inspire and beguile you.  From September 28-30, 2012, the Fifth Russian Documentary Film Festival is set to take place at Tribeca Cinemas Theater 1 at 54 Varick Street.  The first night opens with an introduction to the festival’s participants – directors, producers, jury and sponsors from Russia.  The filmmakers will then present the films in person to their audience.  This will lead into the next few days of poignant Russian films brought to you by the filmmakers themselves and through their eyes.

You will be able to partake in films such as “The Cinematic Hero-A Century of Russian Mystification”, “The Movie is Over”, “Let Our Lives Continue in Others”, “The Nuremburg That Wasn’t”, “The Mark” and many more outstanding films that are all part of the film competition program and will have you on the edge of your seats. September 30, 2012 ends with the closing ceremony and screenings devoted to the Russian avant-garde artists.

This film festival is presented by one of the oldest Russian-language magazines in New York, The New Review Inc.  If you have a strong appreciation for culture and foreign films, this is definitely the event to attend.

The stimulating Tribeca Film Festival has also announced key dates for the 2013 Film Festival along with some new and exciting updates.

First, the 12th Annual Tribeca Film Festival will be held from April 17 through April 28, 2013.  Founding sponsor that makes the festival possible is American Express.  Now is the time to submit narrative and documentary features and short film entries.

This year there is a brand new addition.  Tribeca Film Festival and Bombay Sapphire Gin have adopted a new transmedia program.  This program will give transmedia creators the unique opportunity to compete to win a brand new award in 2013.  The criteria will be based on innovation, interaction and web-based or multi-platform approach to story creation.  Through the open submission process, the 2013 film goers will be able to view the selections chosen and also judge for themselves.

Submissions opened yesterday, September 17, 2012.  Early deadline for features, shorts and transmedia projects is October 19, 2012.  Official deadline for all features, shorts and transmedia projects is November 30, 2012.  Late deadline available to feature-length films only is December 28, 2012.
