When we think of Bootcamp, we envision hours of rigorous exercise and a very strict schedule to adhere to. Fashion Law Bootcamp is about to change your mind about the concept and explore a whole new meaning of the word ‘Bootcamp.’  The original Fashion Law Bootcamp program began in New York City by Fashion Law Institute at Fordham Law School.  Year after year, eager participants include fashion professionals, attorneys and law and design students. It becomes more and more popular as time goes on.

As this summer promises to bring a fourth year of spectacular learning experiences to many eager participants, the bootcamp for style lovers will not only be held in New York City but also moves clear across the nation to San Francisco, California to show all its attendants how much enjoyment that Fashion Bootcamp can bring. This is thanks to the union of Fashion Law Institute and Levi Strauss & Co.

You might be slightly curious as to what makes Fashion Law Bootcamp so special.  It is a unique annual summer intensive program giving attendees a chance to experience the newly defined field of fashion law outside of the regular university curriculum.  The 2014 summer dates are August 4 – August 9, 2014.

Levi Strauss & Co. is a global leader in many areas of the Fashion Law Bootcamp curriculum, from innovation and brand protection to social and environmental sustainability,” notes Professor Susan Scafidi, who founded the Fashion Law Institute and will conduct the program.  “We are thrilled and honored that such a creative and community-oriented company, with a pioneering spirit akin to our own, has offered to host us.”

As a major fashion center, California is the natural choice for a new edition of Fashion Law Bootcamp.  “Since its launch in 2010, we have been looking forward to helping the Fashion Law Institute in its efforts to share knowledge and information,” says Thomas Onda, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, Levi Strauss & Co., who spearheaded the collaboration.  “As  a leader in the apparel industry, it is an honor and a privilege for Levi Strauss & Co. to host this program and bring it to the West Coast.”  Levi’s Plaza in downtown San Francisco, where Fashion Law Bootcamp – West Coast Edition will take place, is a living textbook in its own right, with an on-site archive and landscaping allusion to the streams where miners panned for gold wearing Levi’s® original blue jeans.

This is a diverse way to gain fashion and law knowledge in a premiere setting. This exciting opportunity has so much to offer those who have a strong passion for the industry.  There will be guest lectures.  The unity of law & fashion are explored inclusive of intellectual property, business & finance, international trade and government regulation as well as consumer culture and civil rights.

The success that has come from the Fashion Law Bootcamp , taking place since 2010, is immeasurable.  Bootcampers have come from well-known companies of Marc Jacobs, Forever 21 and from retailers clear across the globe.  Graduates have gone on to design their own lines, work at highly-respected fashion houses and some have even founded their own law firms.

Fashion Law Bootcamp can be one of the most rewarding ways to spend a special part of the summer if you have an eye for fashion and a mind for law.
