Funkshion: Fashion Week on South Beach By Hope Wilkos, Writer/Blogger

Once again, South Florida is getting ready for another exciting fashion event. From March 22nd through March 26th, Miami Beach is hosting the 16th annual Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach.

For all South Florida fashionistas, events and shows take place at the tents built on the sand at 10th and Ocean Drive. Most all are open to the public. There will be two full blocks of art and fashion and three unique spaces with a large court yard for sponsor activations in the main area. These shows are all open to the public as well. You are able to RSVP to the website and attend free of charge.

This is the perfect opportunity for established designers such as Richie Rich and Pachi Lake to showcase their Fall/Winter 2011 Collections to a wide audience of media, celebrities, buyers and fashion followers. Music will be a large integral part of the shows, whether it be a DJ or a live band.

Miami International University of Art and Design students will be showing some of their creative designs. There will also be big name designers such as Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Moschino and BluMarine giving the audience a look at their latest collections.

In a humanitarian effort, Haiti’s leading designers will be exhibiting their talents and achievements. The presentation will give positive exposure to Haiti and show how fashion is assisting in the continued rebuilding efforts. Renowned developer Michael Capponi will have a special presentation on the work that he has accomplished in the past year.

Find out all about the four day event at http://www.fashionweekMiami.com and see how you can take part in the activities and see all the Fall/Winter fashions as well as be able to enjoy the sun and the surf at the same time.
