THE GALA EVENTS OF THE GRAMMY® AWARDS

The Recording Academy® has been very busy at work getting ready and preparing for all the events that will take place during GRAMMY week. Here is a taste of the excitement in store for you:
The 2013 MUSICARES® PERSON OF THE YEAR TRIBUTE honors the best in the business. This year, Bruce Springsteen is the artist receiving the acclaimed title on Friday, February 8th,2013. His fellow artists will be performing in his honor including such great musicians as Jackson Browne, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Elton John, John Legend, Sting and Neil Young. These are just some of the big names to make this evening memorable. Jon Stewart will be the host of the event. This is one of the highest honors that a musician can earn from The Recording Academy®. Neil Portnow, President and CEO of MusiCares® and The Recording Academy® will be present. Springsteen will not only be recognized for his exceptional artistic achievement but also for his generous philanthropic efforts.
This marks the 23rd year of the ‘Person of the Year’ tribute and through this event, the Programs of MusiCares® Emergency Financial Assistance and Addiction Recovery will greatly benefit. This event also provides the essential support which ensures that musically inclined people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.
The 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year gala will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction, sponsored by the Starkey Hearing Foundation, that will offer an exclusive and unparalleled selection of luxury items, VIP experiences, and one-of-a-kind celebrity memorabilia for bidding guests. The auction will be followed by a gala dinner sponsored by AEG, and a star-studded tribute concert sponsored by Acura/ELS Studio. Acura RLX is the MusiCares “Vehicle of the Year.” During the gala dinner, a live auction will feature an exciting array of items, including a customized Acura RLX. This year’s red-carpet press arrivals area will be sponsored by Galactica Park. On February 6, 2013, at the University of Southern California Grand Ballroom, we will celebrate the 4th Annual GRAMMY In The Schools® Live! — A Celebration Of Music & Education sponsored by Ford Motor Company Fund and the Starkey Hearing Foundation with support from Best Buy and Converse. It will be a real treat as alumni from GRAMMY Camp and GRAMMY Signature Schools perform with multi-Latin GRAMMY® AND GRAMMY® WINNER this year, Juanes.
Our children will make the music of the future and this is an event to show the vast commitment to helping our younger generation, ripe with budding musical talent, realize their dreams.
Capitol Records and The Recording Academy®’s GRAMMY Recordings® will release the 2013 GRAMMY® Nominees Album on Jan. 22, 2013 and provide lucky music and GRAMMY fans two chances to attend the 55th or the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards®. The album will feature 22 critically acclaimed smash hits from a wide variety of artists spanning a multitude of genres. Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, Hunter Hayes, Ed Sheeran, PINK and Adele are just some of the artists featured on this hit album that is sure to be a big success.
Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, California, the “Play It Forward: A Celebration of Music’s Evolution & Influencers”will take place as part of THE GRAMMY FOUNDATION®’S 15TH ANNUAL MUSIC PRESERVATION PROJECT PRESENTED BY SEAGATE®. The purpose of this commemoration is to highlight THE GRAMMY FOUNDATION®’S ongoing work to safeguard music’s history. Performers include Leann Rimes, George Thorogood and Ed Sheeran amongst others.
Of course, this will all lead up to the big night of stars and song. Performers announced earlier this month are Mumford & Sons, Rihanna, The Black Keys, FUN. and Taylor Swift who are all also nominees. Official sponsors for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards are Delta Airlines, Dial Global Radio Network, Harman, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, HITLAB, Hyundai, MasterCard, PEOPLE, Pepsi and Procter & Gamble (COVERGIRL, Olay and Herbal Essences). This premier extravaganza will be broadcast in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS Television Network from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
