There’s one designer that keeps exceeding expectations each season he shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Zang Toi, a truly brilliant Malaysian designer, gives his audience a dramatic performance as he presents each of his collections. He has been labeled ‘the next best thing’ and has captured the attention of the world’s most fashionable elite. His name is synonymous with Haute Fashion and his clothing is a favorite of Ivana Trump and Melinda Gates.
At his Spring 2012 Fashion Show from Mercedes-Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week, the show began with the soft sounds of a harpist in dimmed lighting as the anticipation began to build. The first outfit was tantalizing. A model sauntered out in a desert silk gazar linen Goddess coat bordered with a 23 carat gold leaf and matching strapless jumpsuit and headdress.
Each of the outfits were elegant and stately. The popular fabric used was linen and solid colors gave off a powerful message in beige and black and white. Suit dressing for the professional woman was tailored and timeless. Beige sheaths and shiny gold accessories fared well together.
Of course, daywear led into evening wear and silk and satin were exigent in deep blues and breathtaking blacks. There was a hint of tuxedo dressing in pants and long gowns. Rich gold chains adorned the shoulders of a revealing black floor length form-fitting dress.
Zang Toi had a theme for this show, “My Dream of North America” and he expressed himself with an ebony silk jersey t-shirt with sapphire and gold beading ‘Make Love Not War’. This was worn over tight metallic gold futuristic leggings.
Purity and grace were seen with velvet and cashmere and lace. Crystal sapphire beading and crystal encrusted broochs added that euphoric ending.
Zang Toi had a surprise in store for his fashion followers with the finale of this show. Well-known actress and spokeswoman, Kirstie Alley, appeared from behind the stage and made her way down the runway with a big smile and totally enjoying herself. She could have been labeled a Queen in a jewel encrusted ‘one thousand nights and one night’ imperial coat cinched at the waist and looking perfectly regal.
Zang Toi has proved that he can do it again and again and his collections are always star quality. All women will look and feel like royalty in Zang Toi clothing.
