In an intimate setting on the rooftop of the EMPIRE Hotel, the energetic and down-to-earth designer, Walter Baker, gave us a most intriguing collection known as his urban line, WALTER.
From the lightest of light to the brightest of bright, this Spring 2012 Collection will be a sure sensation. The great advantage and edge that Walter has is his ingenuity of designing pieces that can easily be mixed and matched to fit the appropriate occasion.
The theme this coming Spring is free, flowing, relaxed and attention to detail. Walter incorporates all into his newest collection. Walter is always one step ahead of himself as far as ideas for the next season and tries to target the young woman who loves to look their best, “the uptown girl with downtown sensibility”.
Jackets are a much needed accessory, whether worn with shorts or a dress and they definitely add an extra bit of oomph to his clothing. The graduating hemline was so graceful and aristocratic. Sheer long floor-length skirts were big for Baker this season.
Low cut tops were gathered at the waist and led into the short bouncy skirt or long dramatic skirt with a slit all the way up the leg. White was wonderful and floral patterns brought the clothes to life. Color blocking and pleats are a common theme with a touch of texture from tweed to lace.
Each season, Walter surpasses his last season and is regularly featured in Vogue, Elle, InStyle, Marie Claire and Lucky. His illustrious designs have been spotted on celebrities such as Leighton Meester, Eva Mendez, Rihanna and Kristen Bell. He never leaves home without his digital camera and sketchbook. He believes that confidence and style connect every woman around the globe. His clothing can be found from the United States to Europe.
As the sun set in the New York sky, the crowd mingled for an evening of trend setting fashion. Walter’s clothing is very affordable and can be found at such large retailers as Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.
